Central Michigan Chippewas Coming Off a Defensive Win

Central Michigan held Colgate to 10 points in its first victory, but the offense has produced 20 points across two games. Angel Flores has completed 10 of 19 passes for 71 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions. The Chippewas have only 106 passing yards as a team with three interceptions. Flores has done considerably more damage as a runner, gaining 149 yards and one touchdown on 32 carries. Vaughn Blue has added 52 yards and a touchdown on nine attempts.

Central Michigan’s receiving numbers have been limited, with Blue leading the team at 28 yards on four receptions. Justin Ruffin Jr. has 27 yards on four catches, while no Chippewas player has caught a touchdown. The defense has been more productive, recording three sacks and two interceptions. Xavier White leads Central Michigan with 18 tackles, followed by Mayson Hitchens with 15. Hitchens and Darrell Bryant Jr. have interceptions, while Korver Demma and Hunter Zirkle have each recorded a sack.

Injuries: J. Allen is questionable with an undisclosed injury.

Wyoming vs Central Michigan Key to the Game

Central Michigan needs to keep Wyoming’s rushing attack from creating manageable situations for Hughes. The Cowboys have three runners with at least 78 yards, and Holman has averaged 7.8 yards per attempt. Wyoming also needs better ball security from Hughes after three interceptions. Central Michigan has forced two interceptions and could create problems if the Cowboys become careless with the football. For the Chippewas, Flores’ running ability is important because the passing game has produced only 106 yards and no touchdowns.

Wyoming vs Central Michigan Game Pick

  • Wyoming +1.5 (-108)

Wyoming +1.5 is the pick in a matchup between teams that have relied heavily on their rushing attacks. The Cowboys have produced 298 rushing yards, while Hughes has completed 66.7% of his passes and thrown two touchdowns. Central Michigan has managed only 106 passing yards with three interceptions and no touchdowns through the air. Flores creates problems as a runner, but Wyoming has more balance between its running game and receiving corps. The Cowboys also have two interceptions from Thomas, making Wyoming the pick with the small spread.

Wyoming vs Central Michigan Over/Under Pick

  • Under 39.5 (-110)

Under 39.5 is the pick after Central Michigan scored seven points at New Mexico and 13 against Colgate, while Wyoming has scored 34 across its two games. The Chippewas have no passing touchdowns and only 106 yards through the air, leaving Flores and the rushing attack with much of the offensive workload. Wyoming has produced more balance, but Hughes has thrown three interceptions. Central Michigan’s defense allowed only 10 points last week, and another low-output performance from its offense makes a game below 39.5 the play.
