"What they've done with Ryan Staub, you look at him and watch him on video and think he's kind of a cool presence and gets the ball out and gets the ball to people accurately. He can do that," Wyoming head coach Jay Sawvel said about Colorado’s quarterbacks. "With Kaidon Salter, there's an added element of athleticism to it. We've got to prepare for all of it.”
Wyoming is averaging 186 passing yards per game, which ranks 101st in the league. They are the 74th-ranked rushing attack with 158.7 yards per game on the ground. Wyoming is averaging just 15.7 points per game, placing them 121st.

Questions remain for Colorado quarterback position
Colorado is 1-2 overall this season. They started the season with a 7-point loss to Georgia Tech and followed with a win over FCS Delaware. But quarterback changes continue to be the talking point of this roster.
In their last game, the Buffaloes lost 36-20 away from home on Friday, Sept. 12. Colorado trailed 16-14 at halftime, but points would be hard to come by as Houston scored the next 17 points to take control of the game and eventually win. The Buffaloes went just 4-for-14 on third down, and they turned the ball over twice, which helped the Cougars take the win.
Quarterback Ryan Staub threw for 204 yards on 19-for-35 passing. He tossed two picks and a touchdown. Staub made the start in this game, but was the backup in the previous two outings for Colorado.
Colorado’s Kaidon Salter was the previous starter. He has thrown 261 yards and completed 68% of his passes. He’s tossed one touchdown and zero interceptions this year. Colorado turned the starting keys over to Staub during the Delaware game and for the entirety of the Houston game.
But, Salter will be starting against Wyoming, according to ESPN.
While the quarterback play is up in the air, rushing the ball needs to improve for Colorado. Through three games, Simeon Price leads the team with 135 yards and a touchdown. No other player has more than 80 rushing yards total.
On defense, Colorado safety Tawfiq Byard leads the roster with 19 tackles. The defense has four total sacks, with no player recording more than one. They have also forced five turnovers, too.
“They’re physical up front,” Colorado head coach Deion Sanders said about Wyoming. “I feel like offensive line and defensive line, these guys are physical up front. They’re coached well, man. I know that’s a cliché, but they really are coached well. They’re not going to make a lot of mistakes. I don’t think they’re going to beat themselves. You’re going to have to beat them. They want to win.”
Colorado is averaging 23.7 points per game, ranking 95th. They are throwing 210 passing yards per game, which places them 82nd. The Buffaloes are the 105th-ranked rushing attack with 124 yards on the ground.

Colorado is 0-2-1 against the spread this season. They did not cover the spread as a 4-point underdog to Houston and a 3.5-point underdog to Georgia Tech this season. They pushed the cover as a 24-point favorite versus Delaware. The under is 2-1 when Colorado has played. The under is 2-0 when the total has been set at 48 points or more.
Wyoming vs Colorado Picks
Wyoming vs Colorado Spread Pick
- Colorado -13.5 (5 units)
This game is going to play out very similarly to Wyoming’s last game. The Cowboys kept the game close in a low-scoring affair thanks to strong defense. Over time, the defense started to wear out and Utah’s offense started to roll. This is how the game against Colorado is going to go, too. The Buffaloes will need some time with another change at quarterback set. Consistency for the Buffaloes will be an issue with the different lineups used. Once things settle down, Colorado’s offense should dominate against a fatigued Wyoming defense that can’t support the offense for the entire game. The Cowboys' offense isn’t very good and has struggled to score consistently all season, whether on the road or at home. Colorado should come away with an easy win in this one.
Take Colorado to cover.
Wyoming vs Colorado Over/Under Pick
- Under 44.5 (5 units)
Wyoming’s offense has not been good this year. They aren’t accumulating enough yards to put a lot of points and they can’t sustain long drives. The defense for the Cowboys has been good, and they can slow down this Colorado offense that does seem out of sorts at times. The Buffaloes will be changing quarterbacks again, and this inconsistency could be detrimental to a high-scoring output. The Cowboys' defense looked really good through three quarters against Utah, and they can stop Colorado in this game consistently. The under is 3-0 in Wyoming games this season.
Take the under on Saturday.
