Wyoming Cowboys (4-7) vs. Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (7-4)

The 2025 college football regular season will close down on Saturday, November 29, with the Mountain West Conference clash at Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex in Honolulu, HI, so here’s the Wyoming vs. Hawaii prediction and the latest odds update.

Wyoming meets Hawaii for the first time since November 18, 2023, when the Cowboys trounced the Rainbow Warriors 42-9 as 13.5-point home favorites. A lot has changed since then, and the Cowboys are 8.5-point road underdogs with a total of 44.5 points for the upcoming battle in Honolulu.

Wyoming’s offense is slumping big-time

The Wyoming Cowboys (4-7; 5-6 ATS; 2-9 O/U) are on a three-game losing streak. During that stretch, the Cowboys have only scored 17 points. After a couple of road defeats against San Diego State 24-7 and Fresno State 24-3, the Cowboys suffered a 13-7 home loss to Nevada in Week 13.

Last week, the Cowboys were listed as 6.5-point home favorites. However, Nevada outgained Wyoming 271-220 in total yards and fully deserved to win. The Cowboys racked up just 68 yards on 23 carries, while sophomore QB Kaden Anderson went 22-of-39 for 157 yards and a touchdown.

“I thought we had done a really good job this past offseason of rebuilding ourselves into a pretty good defensive football team," Wyoming coach Jay Sawvel said. “But we’re not scoring points. We’re not putting ourselves in a position where we’re creating much of anything. You should never lose a game 13-7 in today’s modern football. It’s frustrating. This is three straight games we’ve scored in single digits.”

The Cowboys have had a couple of offensive outbursts in conference play. They beat San Jose State 35-28 in Week 7 and Colorado State 28-0 in Week 9. But for the rest of the way, it’s been a bumpy road for the Cowboys, who are 129th in the country in scoring offense (16.8 points per game).

Anderson has thrown for 1,948 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions this season. That’s not good enough. Freshman RB Samuel Harris has rushed 100 times for 558 yards and a touchdown, while sophomore WR Chris Durr has caught 45 passes for 469 yards and four touchdowns.

The Cowboys lean on their defense. They allow 19.9 points (23rd in the country) on 172.5 rushing yards (100th) and 165.2 passing yards (9th). Senior DL Ben Florentine leads the way with five sacks and seven tackles for loss.

Hawaii is coming off a heavy loss

The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (7-4; 7-4 ATS; 4-7 O/U) have dropped two of their previous three games and blown their chances of reaching the MWC championship game. After a disappointing 45-38 defeat at San Jose State and a magnificent 38-6 victory to San Diego State, the Warriors suffered a 38-10 loss at UNLV this past Friday.

Obviously, the Warriors are way more dangerous when playing at home, but their last two road displays were unacceptable. They gave up a whopping 630 total yards to San Jose State, while UNLV outgained Hawaii 470-231 in total yards. Now, Hawaii is going to battle Wyoming for the Paniolo Trophy.

"We love trophy games," Hawai‘i safety Peter Manuma said. "We're fully motivated. We'll take out all our emotions from the UNLV game to this game. We have a great opponent coming in Wyoming, and they'll try to play spoiler on us, and we just have to come out and play our game."

Freshman QB Micah Alejado completed 15 of his 24 passing attempts last week, throwing for 163 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. He’s tossed for 2,543 yards, 19 touchdowns, and eight interceptions across nine games this season, while wideouts Jackson Harris and Pofele Ashlock have combined for 1,443 yards and 17 touchdowns.

The Warriors score 28.6 points per game (61st in the country) on 101.8 rushing yards (127th) and 289.7 passing yards (13th). They allow 25.0 points in return (71st) on 140.2 rushing yards (53rd) and 219.5 passing yards (65th).

Hawaii has amassed 26 sacks thus far (tied for 36th). Senior DL Jackie Johnson III leads the charge with seven sacks and seven tackles for loss.

Spread Pick for Wyoming vs. Hawaii

  • Hawaii -8.5 (5 units)

The Rainbow Warriors heavily lean on their passing offense, and the Cowboys’ passing defense has been pretty good this season. But with the way the Cowboys’ offense has been playing, I can only look at Hawaii despite an 8.5-point spread.

Hawaii is not a bad defensive team. The Warriors failed to cope with the Rebels last week, but UNLV is arguably the best offensive unit in the MWC. As I said, the Warriors are way more dangerous when playing at home. They’ve gone 8-1 ATS in their previous nine games in Honolulu.

Over/Under Pick for Wyoming vs. Hawaii

  • Under 44.5 (5 units)

The under has hit in each of the Cowboys’ last five outings, which is no surprise given their offensive woes. On the other side, three of the Rainbow Warriors’ previous four games have gone under. Hawaii is throwing the ball a lot, but the Warriors’ defense is solid. They held the MWC-leading San Diego State to six points three weeks ago.

I will ride these betting trends. The Cowboys’ offense cannot be trusted, and Wyoming certainly has weapons to slow the Rainbow Warriors down. Hawaii might need to run the ball a little bit more than usual in order to beat Wyoming.
