It's almost over
Connecticut (11-31) has lost four of its last six. The Sun continue to struggle offensively, averaging 76.3 points on 41.4 percent shooting, both league lows. Veteran Tina Charles remains a bright spot with 16.6 points, and 6.0 rebounds per game. Charles also recently became the WNBA's all-time leader in field goals made, passing Diana Taurasi.
Injuries remain an issue, with Bria Hartley and Leila Lacan out and Olivia Nelson-Ododa doubtful. The Sun have dropped three of their last four games against the spread and outright, but they are coming off an 87-84 upset win as a double-digit home underdog against Phoenix on Saturday.
Dream season
The Dream (28-14) enter on a four-game winning streak and have won 13 of their last 16. Rhyne Howard is powering the offense after scoring a career-high 37 points, including nine three-pointers, in a 104-85 win over the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday. She leads the league in threes per game. Allisha Gray is another key scorer, but her status is uncertain because of a knee injury.
Atlanta ranks among the league leaders in defense, allowing 77.1 points per game, and owns a plus-6.6 margin. The Dream are also 8-1 against the spread in their last nine games and have excelled in Eastern Conference matchups, especially at home.
Sun vs. Dream Pick
- Atlanta Dream -12 (5 units)
Atlanta is tied with Las Vegas for second place in the WNBA. With the Aces riding a 14-game win streak, the Dream need to keep pace for playoff seeding. This is their final home game of the season, and after beating Connecticut by 17 points on the road last week, they are in position to cover again.
Total Prediction
- Under 160 (3 units)
Atlanta’s defense holds opponents below projections, and Connecticut’s offense has been held under 77 points in three of its last four games. Recent matchups have leaned toward lower totals, and the tempo should favor half-court play. The under is the stronger side.
