By: Al MacMillan Published 09/18/2026, 12:49 PM ET

Today’s Edmonton Elks vs Toronto Argonauts picks for Saturday, September 19, 2026, feature the West Division leader visiting BMO Field with both teams carrying major playoff implications. Edmonton enters at 10-3 after clinching a postseason berth with a 53-16 rout of Calgary, while Toronto is 7-6 and can clinch a playoff berth and a home playoff game if it wins and Hamilton loses on Friday.

The current market has Edmonton favored by 1.5 points after opening in the -1 to -1.5 range, while the total sits at 62.5. Edmonton is around -125 on the moneyline, with Toronto near +105. The number reflects a matchup between the league’s best current straight-up team and an Argonauts club that remains unbeaten at BMO Field this season.

Best Available Odds for Edmonton Elks vs Toronto Argonauts

  • Moneyline: Edmonton Elks -125, Toronto Argonauts +105
  • Spread: Edmonton Elks -1.5 (-115), Toronto Argonauts +1.5 (-105)
  • Total: Over 62.5 (-110), Under 62.5 (-110)

The market has been relatively stable, with Edmonton holding between -1 and -1.5. That matters because the Elks are not being asked to clear a field goal on the road. The total has also remained near 62.5, a high number that assumes both quarterbacks can turn yardage into touchdowns at an efficient rate.

Edmonton Elks vs Toronto Argonauts Preview

Edmonton has been the CFL’s most consistent team against the spread and has increasingly looked like a complete contender rather than a club surviving on one side of the ball. The Elks are 10-3 ATS entering Week 16 and have already secured their first playoff berth since 2019.

Cody Fajardo remains the foundation. He will make his 100th career start and enters just 219 passing yards shy of another 4,000-yard season. Edmonton has not needed him to force the football because the offense can create production through both its passing game and a deep running-back room.

Justin Rankin has produced 1,387 yards from scrimmage and 13 touchdowns, though he was limited in practice this week with a head issue. ShunDerrick Powell has also been limited with a rib injury, making the final backfield configuration worth monitoring. Edmonton has enough depth to survive one absence, but losing multiple runners would reduce one of the offense’s biggest matchup advantages.

The first meeting between these clubs was not competitive. Edmonton beat Toronto 42-12 in Week 11 as the Argonauts committed six turnovers. Chad Kelly threw for 265 yards but was intercepted once, and Toronto repeatedly gave Edmonton short fields. That result cannot simply be copied into the rematch because Toronto is 3-0 at BMO Field, but it does show how dangerous the Elks become when opponents lose the turnover battle.

Toronto enters with its offense in much better individual form. Kelly is coming off his fourth 400-yard passing performance of the season, and David Ungerer III posted a career-high 175 receiving yards last week. Rookie Tyler Kahmann has already recorded four 100-yard receiving games through his first 13 CFL appearances.

The Argonauts’ problem remains volatility. Kelly can create explosive plays that few quarterbacks attempt, but Toronto has also given opponents too many short fields this season. Against an Edmonton team that has punished mistakes consistently, one or two early turnovers can change the entire spread.

Matchup Breakdown

Edmonton’s clearest advantage is balance. Toronto must account for Fajardo’s passing efficiency while also respecting a backfield that can create production between the tackles and in the receiving game. That prevents the Argonauts from simply sitting in deep coverage and waiting for mistakes.

Toronto’s passing game is the strongest reason to avoid laying a larger number. Kelly has the arm talent and receiver depth to attack Edmonton vertically, and BMO Field has been a major advantage. The Argonauts have won the last three meetings with Edmonton played in Toronto.

The Elks’ defense also brings a major individual playmaker into the matchup. Tyrell Ford leads the CFL with six interceptions, giving Edmonton a defender capable of turning Kelly’s aggressive throws into immediate field-position swings. Noah Taylor has also recorded at least one sack in four straight games, including two last week.

Weather should not create a meaningful handicap. Toronto is expected to be cloudy with temperatures around 19 degrees during the day. The current forecast does not call for significant wind or precipitation during the game window, so both offenses should be able to use their full playbooks.

The total of 62.5 remains demanding. Edmonton is 6-7 to the Over/Under split, while Toronto is also 6-7. Both teams can score, but the market is asking for sustained touchdown efficiency rather than simply explosive yardage. The first meeting reached only 54 combined points despite Edmonton scoring 42.

Game Thesis: Toronto’s home-field record and passing ceiling keep this matchup competitive, but Edmonton owns the more stable offensive structure, stronger current defense, and better turnover profile. The Elks should create enough high-value possessions to win by more than a point, while the 62.5 total is high enough to survive productive quarterback performances without requiring a shootout.

Edmonton Elks vs Toronto Argonauts Best Bet - Spread: Edmonton -1.5 (-115)

Edmonton -1.5 is the best bet because the Elks only need to win by two points. The line does not require Edmonton to repeat its 30-point Week 11 margin. It simply requires the league’s most consistent current team to win a close road game.

The biggest risk is BMO Field. Toronto is unbeaten at home and has enough receiving talent to make Edmonton pay if Fajardo leaves points on the field. The Argonauts also have additional playoff urgency with a home postseason date potentially available.

At -1.5, Edmonton’s broader profile remains stronger. If the line climbs through -3, the value changes materially. Below a field goal, the Elks are the preferred side.

Edmonton Elks vs Toronto Argonauts Moneyline Pick: Edmonton -125

Edmonton -125 is also playable because the price remains comfortably inside the -150 threshold and aligns with the spread recommendation. Bettors who want to remove the possibility of a one-point Edmonton victory can pay a modest premium for the moneyline.

The same matchup advantages apply: Edmonton has the more balanced offense, stronger turnover profile, and more reliable defense. Toronto’s home record keeps the moneyline from being cheap, but -125 remains reasonable.

If Edmonton’s moneyline moves beyond -150, the spread becomes the better option.

Edmonton Elks vs Toronto Argonauts Total Pick: Under 62.5 (-110)

The Under is a price play. Toronto can throw for significant yardage without every possession ending in a touchdown, and Edmonton has shown it can win games through defense and field position.

The first meeting finished with 54 combined points even though Edmonton scored 42. The rematch should be more competitive, but a closer game does not automatically require more scoring.

A 31-27 Edmonton win produces 58 points, clears the -1.5 spread, and remains below the total.

Prediction: Edmonton Elks 31, Toronto Argonauts 27
