The bookies expect the Aces to finish the job on Tuesday night. Las Vegas is a 6-point fave with a total of 161.0 points. Read more about this Aces vs. Storm prediction, and check out all our WNBA picks for Tuesday’s card.
The Storm are in trouble
The No. 7 Seattle Storm didn’t stand a chance in Game 1. They trailed the Aces 45-25 at halftime, tying the franchise record for fewest points scored in a playoff half. The Storm couldn’t cope with the Aces’ defense, while their defense was awful all night.

Seattle shot 43.7% from the field in Game 1. The Storm went 7-for-18 from downtown and 8-for-11 from the foul line while posting a 15/13 assist-to-turnover ratio. They earned just one free throw in the first half.
Gabby Williams led the way for Seattle last Sunday, notching 16 points on 8-for-13 shooting from the field. Dominique Malonga posted a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Nneka Ogwumike accounted for 11 points and eight boards.
The Storm desperately need more from Brittney Sykes, who was scoreless in Game 1. Sykes was tallying 14.1 points and 4.0 assists per game in the regular season. The Storm will also have to tighten up their defense. They were yielding 80.1 points per game in the regular season (tied for 4th in the WNBA).
The Aces continue to dominate
The No. 2 Las Vegas Aces extended their winning streak to 17 games with that 102-77 thrashing of the Storm on Sunday night. The Aces easily covered a 5.5-point spread, making 50.7% of their field goals (14-for-29 from downtown).
Las Vegas tortured Seattle on both sides of the ball. The Aces outrebounded the Storm 39-34, earned 10 more free throws than their rivals, and recorded 10 steals on the night. Five Aces scored in double figures, and A’ja Wilson led the way with a line of 29 points, eight boards, three steals, and a couple of blocks and assists.
Jackie Young had a big Game 1, too. She scored 18 points to go with seven assists, five rebounds, and four steals. NaLyssa Smith had 11 points and nine boards, while Jewell Loyd and Dana Evans combined for 27 points off the bench.
The Aces were scoring 83.6 points per game in the regular season (6th in the WNBA). They ranked seventh in points allowed (80.7 per game), but it’s fair to say that Las Vegas’ defense has improved a lot over the last few weeks.
Aces vs. Storm Pick
Spread Pick for Las Vegas Aces vs. Seattle Storm
- Aces -6.0 (5 units)
The Aces have gone 13-4 ATS during their 17-game winning streak. A’ja Wilson has been unstoppable during that stretch, posting 26.1 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game. The rest of the team has played well, and the Aces now look like a proper championship contender.
As I said in my Game 1 preview, there’s no way I’m going to step in front of the red-hot Aces. Seattle doesn’t look like a team capable of beating the Aces, and the Storm have lost 12 of their 22 home contests this season. The Storm are 1-6 ATS in their last seven games overall and 3-7 ATS in their previous 10 encounters with the Aces.
Seattle and Las Vegas split their four-game regular-season series. However, their last regular-season meeting occurred on August 8, when Las Vegas beat Seattle 90-86 at home, and the Aces have improved a lot since then. A’ja Wilson will continue to dominate, and the Aces will advance.
Over/Under Pick for Vegas Aces vs. Seattle Storm
- Over 161.0 (5 units)
The Storm are one of the worst rebounding teams in the WNBA. They won’t be able to cope with A’ja Wilson, and Seattle struggled to contain the Aces’ 3-point shooting in Game 1. I expect more of the same in Game 2, so give me the over on the total.
Seattle plays fast, and Las Vegas won’t mind joining the party. Both teams take good care of the ball. Four of their previous five meetings have gone over the line, and four of those five games have produced way more than 161 points in total.
