Miami Marlins vs. Colorado Rockies Picks and Prediction, Tuesday, September 16
Use Code WWWC The Miami Marlins travel to Coors Field to take on the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday.
Colorado, despite owning the worst record in the majors, has had Miami’s number with three straight wins in their June series.
Both clubs have endured losing seasons, ranking near the bottom of the league in pitching consistency and bullpen depth. With both teams eliminated from postseason contention, pride and player evaluations are at the forefront in this September matchup.

Marlins showing hope for the future
The Marlins enter Tuesday at 70-80 overall, including a 34-38 mark on the road. Although they are 10 games below .500, Miami is still well above its preseason projected win total.
On Tuesday, the Marlins will turn to Eury Pérez, who has struggled through growing pains in his second big-league season. Pérez is 6-5 with a 4.67 ERA over 17 starts but has labored recently, posting a 7.84 ERA across his last five outings. Command has been an issue, with 28 walks in 81 innings. Miami’s bullpen has been equally unreliable, ranking 21st in MLB with a 4.32 ERA.
The losses keep coming
The Rockies’ season has been historically poor at 41-109 overall and 23-52 at Coors Field, but they’ve oddly had Miami’s number, winning all three previous meetings this season.
On Tuesday, Colorado hands the ball to veteran Kyle Freeland, who is 1-8 with a 5.13 ERA across 14 starts. The left-hander has battled command lapses and hard contact, yielding 98 hits and 42 earned runs in just 73.2 innings. Still, he earned his first win this year against Miami back on June 4, pitching 6.1 strong innings in a 3-2 victory. Freeland has shown flashes lately, tossing eight shutout innings against San Diego earlier this month, but inconsistency defines his year. The bullpen behind him has been worse, ranked 29th in MLB with a 5.30 ERA.
Marlins vs Rockies Moneyline Pick:
Spread Pick for Marlins vs. Rockies
- Rockies +128 (4 units)
Colorado’s season has been dreadful, but Kyle Freeland has quietly given them a chance at home, where the Rockies are 4-2 in his last six starts. He already picked up his lone win of the year against Miami back in June, and he now faces Eury Pérez, who has been even shakier on the road with a 6.44 ERA in 10 road starts and losses in four of his last five away outings. At this underdog price, the Rockies carry enough situational value to warrant a play.
Total Pick for Marlins vs. Rockies
- Under 10 (3 units)
Coors Field is known for offense, but these are two of the weaker lineups in baseball. Colorado ranks 29th in runs per game, and Miami has struggled to generate consistency against left-handed pitching. While Eury Pérez has battled on the road, this Rockies lineup isn’t built to punish mistakes. On the other side, Kyle Freeland has shown he can deliver a solid outing at home. With both bullpens entering rested after Monday’s off day, this matchup sets up better for a lower-scoring contest. The under is the play.
