Starting on Saturday will be 32-year-old southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez, who is 9-8 with a 4.91 ERA and 1.56 WHIP. On the road, Rodriguez is 6-6 with a 4.74 ERA. In his only start against the Padres this season, the Padres allowed four runs in four innings of a 4-3 loss on July 10. Rodriguez has been excellent at keeping the Diamondbacks in games late in the season, with the team going 9-1 in his last 10 starts.
Padres happy to have Tatis back
The San Diego Padres know they will face the Chicago Cubs in a best-of-three series in the NL Wild Card series; the only question is which team will hold the home-field advantage in that series. The Cubs currently hold a two-game lead, with two games left. With the Cubs playing the Cardinals earlier in the day, this game may not mean much for the Padres by the time it is playing later on Saturday night.
San Diego is 50-29 at home this season and has won four of their last five games overall. On Friday night, Fernando Tatis Jr blasted a grand slam in the fourth inning to put the Padres ahead 5-2, on their way to a 7-4 victory. Tatis had missed the three previous games dealing with COVID.
Starting on Saturday night will be Michael King, who is 5-3 with a 3.57 ERA and 1.20 WHIP. King has done his best work at home, going 3-2 with a 2.58 ERA in nine starts this season.

I am expecting the Chicago Cubs to take care of business earlier in the do, pushing me towards taking Arizona here as the underdog. The Diamondbacks have won nine of the last 10 starts by Eduardo Rodríguez, and he has an 1.84 ERA over his past five outings. On the other side, Padres starter Michael King has run into some issues, posting a 6.64 ERA across his last five starts and not going deep into games.
