Atlanta Braves vs Los Angeles Dodgers MLB NL Division Series Game 1 Picks, Prediction, Odds, and Line Movement for Saturday October 3 2026

By: Alex MacMillan Updated 10/02/2026, 10:51 AM ET

Atlanta survived the Wild Card round and now gets the most expensive home favorite on Saturday's National League board.

The Braves are +175 in Los Angeles, while the Dodgers are -210 and the total is 8. Both starting pitchers remain TBD. That uncertainty makes the moneyline especially important because the market has already priced Los Angeles as a heavy favorite before the pitching matchup is settled.

Atlanta carries the fatigue of a three-game Wild Card series. Los Angeles carries the pressure of justifying a premium price after a layoff. Game 1 is therefore less about which club has the bigger name and more about whether the gap between them is really as wide as -210 suggests.

Atlanta Braves vs Los Angeles Dodgers Division Series Game 1 Preview

Atlanta's biggest advantage is not recent postseason history. It is price.

The Braves' 2026 road moneyline profile was slightly negative, but the Dodgers were even worse at home from a betting-return standpoint. The run-line split is more striking: Atlanta was modestly profitable away from home, while Los Angeles produced a deeply negative home run-line return.

That matters because -210 asks the Dodgers to win at a very high rate.

The longer postseason history cuts both ways.

Since 2022, Atlanta is 4-9 overall in postseason games for -6.12 units. The Braves are 0-6 on the road for -6.00 units and 0-5 as an underdog for -5.00 units. A bettor risking $100 on each of those six road games would be down $600.

Los Angeles has been much better straight up. The Dodgers are 25-15 in the postseason since 2022 for +3.47 units.

But the price tells a more complicated story. Los Angeles is 13-8 at home over that span and still sits at -0.45 units. As a favorite, the Dodgers are 21-13 but only +0.57 units. In other words, the Dodgers have won plenty of games without consistently rewarding bettors asked to lay large numbers.

That is precisely the issue Saturday.

Atlanta's historical road results are poor, but Los Angeles' success has often been expensive. At +175, the Braves do not need to match the Dodgers' long-run win percentage. They need one competitive Game 1.

Atlanta Braves vs Los Angeles Dodgers Odds and Line Movement

The Dodgers are being priced as the strongest favorite on the afternoon slate, yet the starter matchup is still unresolved.

That makes historical price performance useful context.

Since 2022, Division Series underdogs are 32-32 for +9.17 units. A bettor risking $100 on each underdog would be up about $917. Division Series favorites over the same span are also 32-32, but they are down 9.52 units because of the premium attached to those prices.

That contrast fits this matchup unusually well.

Los Angeles may still be the more likely straight-up winner, but -210 leaves little room for error. Atlanta's +175 allows the Braves to be wrong more often and still remain profitable if they win enough of these spots.

Run Scored in the First Inning

A run scored in the first inning is the secondary pick.

The total of 8 creates the strongest neutral first-inning scoring baseline on Saturday's board. Dividing the total across nine innings produces an estimated 58.9% chance of at least one opening-inning run, equivalent to roughly -143 before any starter adjustment.

The team histories support that direction.

Dodgers postseason games have produced a first-inning run 24 times in 40 games since 2022, returning +8.14 units. A bettor risking $100 each time would be up about $814.

Atlanta games are 7-6 for a first-inning run over the same period, worth +1.47 units. The Braves also scored three times in the first inning of their Wild Card clincher.

The broader Division Series result is 35-31 for a first-inning run and +5.61 units since 2022.

Best Bet - Atlanta Braves ML (+175)

Atlanta +175 is the Best Bet.

This is not an argument that Atlanta has the better postseason history. It does not. The Braves' road record since 2022 is a major warning.

The wager is about how much Los Angeles costs.

The Dodgers are 21-13 as postseason favorites since 2022 yet have produced only +0.57 units. Their 13-8 home postseason record is actually slightly negative financially. At -210, bettors are again being asked to pay a large premium before the starters are known.

Atlanta's current venue profile also compares better than the headline price suggests, particularly on the run line.

Game Thesis: Los Angeles has the stronger postseason record, but the market has already charged heavily for that advantage. Atlanta's +175 creates enough payout to justify taking the underdog in a matchup that still lacks confirmed starters.

Final Prediction

Prediction: Atlanta Braves 4, Los Angeles Dodgers 3
