Atlanta Braves Look to Get Their Lineup Going

Atlanta ranks 12th in MLB with a .246 batting average and has produced 609 runs, 167 home runs and a .412 slugging percentage. Matt Olson supplies the biggest power threat with 36 home runs, 77 RBI and an .876 OPS. Michael Harris II leads the Braves with a .293 average and 137 hits while adding 20 homers and 69 RBI. Drake Baldwin has a team-high .351 on-base percentage with 21 home runs.

The Braves have struggled to turn those season numbers into runs recently. Atlanta has scored only 10 times over its last five games and has been held to two runs or fewer four times. The Braves beat the White Sox 2-0 on Thursday before managing one run against Milwaukee on Friday. Atlanta’s pitching has kept games close, ranking fifth in MLB with a 3.64 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and .230 opponent batting average.

Injuries: Joe Jimenez (60-Day IL), Reynaldo Lopez (15-Day IL), Robert Suarez (15-Day IL), Spencer Strider (60-Day IL), Spencer Schwellenbach (60-Day IL).

Milwaukee Brewers Continue Strong Season

Milwaukee has been one of baseball’s most consistent teams, combining a .253 batting average with a .337 on-base percentage. The Brewers have scored 644 runs despite hitting only 119 home runs. Jake Bauers leads Milwaukee with 22 homers while batting .273 with a .383 on-base percentage and .883 OPS. Jackson Chourio is hitting .280 with 17 home runs, while Brice Turang has 16 homers, 75 RBI and 18 stolen bases.

The Brewers have won four of their last five and scored 42 runs during that stretch, although 22 came in one shutout victory over Seattle. Milwaukee followed that huge performance with a 7-5 loss before beating Seattle 7-4 and Atlanta 2-1. Pitching has been a major strength throughout the season. The Brewers rank second in MLB with a 3.46 ERA and own a 1.16 WHIP while holding opponents to a .219 batting average.

Injuries: Joel Kuhnel (15-Day IL), Sal Frelick (10-Day IL), Abner Uribe (15-Day IL), JoJo Romero (15-Day IL), Rob Zastryzny (60-Day IL).

Pitching Matchup

Atlanta Braves – Martin Perez

Perez enters Sunday at 8-7 with a 3.15 ERA and 1.19 WHIP across 111.1 innings. The left-hander has allowed 88 hits, 45 walks, and 11 home runs while recording 83 strikeouts. Perez has limited opponents to fewer than one hit per inning and has kept the ball in the park, giving Atlanta a proven starter for the neutral-site matchup.

Milwaukee Brewers – Shane Drohan

Drohan is 6-4 with a 3.86 ERA and 1.25 WHIP through 100.1 innings. The left-hander has surrendered 92 hits, 33 walks and nine home runs while striking out 99. Drohan has nearly one strikeout per inning and has also limited home-run damage. His 33 walks are considerably lower than Perez’s 45 despite pitching only 11 fewer innings.

Atlanta Braves vs Milwaukee Brewers Game Pick

  • Milwaukee Brewers

Milwaukee gets the game selection because its recent form and pitching numbers provide the stronger overall profile. The Brewers have won four of five, while Atlanta has dropped four of five and scored only 10 runs during that stretch. Perez has the better starting ERA at 3.15, but Milwaukee owns a 3.46 team ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and .219 opponent average. The Brewers also have a deeper collection of productive hitters reaching base consistently. Milwaukee’s balanced play gives the Brewers the advantage Sunday.

Atlanta Braves vs Milwaukee Brewers Over/Under Pick

  • Under

Atlanta’s recent lack of scoring puts the lower-scoring side of this matchup in a favorable position. The Braves have produced only 10 runs over their last five games, including one in Friday’s 2-1 loss to Milwaukee. Perez owns a 3.15 ERA and has allowed just 11 home runs through 111.1 innings, while Drohan has a 3.86 ERA with nine homers surrendered. Milwaukee also ranks second in MLB in team pitching. Those numbers will help cash the total under.
