Pick for Chicago Cubs vs. Atlanta Braves

  • Chicago Cubs (5 units)

Atlanta has lost seven of its last 10, and the Braves are 1-5 in the last six games against a team from the National League Central. Last week, Chicago won two of three against Atlanta. Chicago starter Cade Horton has had nine consecutive strong outings dating back to July 20, allowing a total of 24 hits and just four runs in 42 innings with Chicago going 6-3 over that span. Last Wednesday, Horton gave up no runs and no hits in 5.0 innings versus Atlanta, but he received no run support in a 5-1 loss. Atlanta starter Spencer Strider gave up five hits and three runs in 5.0 innings last Monday when Atlanta lost to the Chicago Cubs 7-6, but did not take part in the decision as the game went into extra innings. The Braves have lost each of the last five starts Strider has made. Chicago is battling for a National League wild card spot. Atlanta is on the verge of being eliminated from postseason contention, giving Chicago far more incentive to win this matchup.

Over/Under Pick for Chicago Cubs vs. Atlanta Braves

  • Under (4 units)

Last Wednesday, when Cade Horton was on the mound for Chicago, just six runs were scored in a matchup with Atlanta, finishing under the 8.0 closing line. The total has finished under in six of Atlanta's last nine games and in eight of the last 10 games played head-to-head between Atlanta and Chicago, including two of three last week.
