White Sox swept Minnesota in their previous series
Chicago (53-88 SU, 82-59 RL, and 66-67-8 O/U) swept Minnesota in four games in its previous series. The Southsiders are 5-5 in their last ten games (the over went 7-3).
Chicago will turn to left-hander Martín Pérez tomorrow against Detroit. In his last start, the 34-year-old gave up two runs and five hits in a six-inning no-decision against the Yankees. He is 1-3 with a 2.16 ERA and 0.98 WHIP in eight outings (41.2 IP) this season, including 0-2 with a 3.07 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in three road appearances (14.2 IP).
The White Sox were devoid of offensive juice last season, and not much has changed in 2025, as they rank 26th in runs scored. The pitching staff has been solid enough, though, and the bullpen has made strides (4.19 ERA) after ranking 28th in ERA last year. That has helped Chicago compete, compiling the best run line record in MLB this season.
Chicago White Sox Baseball Injury Report: No injuries to report for Saturday's game against the Tigers.
Detroit is 22-22 in the second half
Detroit (81-60 SU, 67-74 RL, and 72-61-8 O/U) was off on Thursday. The Tigers lost two of three to New York (NL) in their previous series, and are 3-7 in their last ten games (the over/under was split 5-5).
The Tigers will turn to southpaw Tarik Skubal tomorrow against Chicago. In his last start, the 28-year-old held Kansas City scoreless on four hits in seven innings. He is 12-4 with a 2.18 ERA and 0.87 WHIP in 27 starts (173.0 IP) this year, including 8-1 with a 2.34 ERA and 0.92 WHIP in 14 outings (88.1 IP) at Comerica Park.
Detroit broke out in 2024, winning 86 games in the regular season and riding a 31-11 surge into the Division Series. For a proud franchise and city, it was the type of season the fans deserved. Now, it's about building off that success by becoming a consistent competitor in the American League pennant chase. The Tigers dominated in the first half of the season and have ridden their success to a 9.5-game lead over second-place KC in the AL Central. Can they reach the World Series in 2025?
Detroit Tigers Baseball Injury Report: No injuries to report for Saturday's game against the White Sox.
White Sox vs. Tigers Pick
Run Line Pick for White Sox vs. Tigers
- White Sox Cover Run Line (4 Units)
Chicago is 41-26 against the run line as road underdogs this season. It has been a consistent winner on the run line, despite winning only 37 percent of its games. The White Sox haven't faced Skubal this season, but they have performed well against southpaws in 2025, ranking 11th in BABIP. I'm also confident Pérez can keep Chicago close against a Detroit lineup that's been average (15th in wRC+) since the All-Star break. Neither ballclub boasts a significant bullpen advantage, either.
Over/Under Pick for White Sox vs. Tigers
- Under 7.5 (5 Units)
I don't anticipate a lot of scoring in Saturday's AL Central battle at Comerica Park. Chicago will do its best to put the ball in play and pressure Skubal, but current White Sox hitters haven't fared too well against him in the past (.211 BA with a 28% K% in 53 combined plate appearances). He has allowed seven total runs in his last five outings against the Southsiders, as well. Pérez should also fare well, as he enters this matchup with momentum. He has allowed just four runs (three earned) on 12 hits in four starts since returning from the IL on August 13.
