Colorado is Eliminated
The Colorado Rockies are the only team in the National League that is officially eliminated from playoff contention. The Rockies are 36 games out of the final Wild Card spot, and could win every game for the rest of the season and still not get there. Colorado has dropped four of their last five games, with their only win of the stretch coming against the Padres on Friday. In Saturday's game, Colorado got a home run and three RBIs from Jordan Beck in the 10-8 loss.
Beck has been their most consistent every-day player, as he leads the team in at-bats. The 24-year-old is their left fielder who bats cleanup in the lineup in his second season in the league. Beck has 15 home runs and 50 RBIs on the year while batting .273 at the plate. Hunter Goodman is their most productive hitter, he leads the team with 29 home runs and 86 RBIs, with the top batting average out of qualified hitters at .284. Goodman bats third as their catcher, right after Mickey Moniak, who has 19 home runs and 57 RBIs as their DH.
Colorado will start Chase Dollander for the 21st time this season as a 23-year-old right-hander. He has a 2-12 record, with the team losing in each of his last three starts. His ERA is 6.77 to go with 77 strikeouts against 47 walks. In his last start, Dollander gave up six runs in five innings in a loss to the Giants.
Dodgers Lose Five Straight
The Los Angeles Dodgers have led the NL West for the majority of the 2025 season, but their spot at the top is in serious jeopardy after a difficult stretch over the past week. The Dodgers lost three straight in Pittsburgh, and followed that up by losing the first two in their series against the Orioles. Los Angeles is now just one game ahead of the Padres in the division, but would still likely be able to grab a Wild Card spot even if the Padres surpass them.
In Saturday's game against Baltimore, the Dodgers had 10 hits, while the Orioles had just three, but that did not matter as the Orioles won 4-3. Mookie Betts had two hits and two RBIs from his spot at second in the lineup. The 32-year-old is in his sixth season with the Dodgers after spending six seasons with the Red Sox. This year, Betts has 15 home runs and 63 RBIs while batting .251 at the plate. Shohei Ohtani went 1-5 with an RBI on Sunday, he is still at the top of their lineup as the DH and 46 home runs and 88 RBIs. Ohtani surprisingly only has 17 stolen bases after going for over 59 last year.
The Dodgers have not yet named their starter in this game. Kershaw is starting on Sunday, then they do know who will pitch the following five games after this one, leading us to believe this will be a bullpen game. The Dodgers are 18th in the league in team ERA at 4.11.
Colorado Rockies vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Pick
Runline pick for Rockies vs. Dodgers
- Dodgers -1.5 (5 units)
This feels like the square side of the game, but Colorado simply cannot be backed here, despite how poorly Los Angeles is playing. This will be the Dodgers' first game back home after a small road trip out East, and are acutely aware of how close the Padres are in second place in their division. The Dodgers will likely use a bullpen game, as all their top starters are scheduled around this one. Even so, they are taking on the Rockies' offense which is only 29th in the league in runs scored. Colorado is starting Dollander, who just gave up six runs in his last start, and has a 2-12 record on the mound, the perfect matchup for the Dodgers to get back on track.
Take the Dodgers to cover the runline.
Over/Under Pick for Dodgers vs. Orioles
- Over (5 units)
This is the perfect recipe for an over. First, the Dodgers do not have a starter named as of Sunday morning, and will likely be sending out multiple arms from their bullpen to go through this Colorado lineup. This is not necessarily a good thing for Los Angeles as they rank only 18th in the league in team ERA. Expect Colorado to grab a couple runs here off this Dodger pitching staff. In the other dugout, Dollander is having a nightmare season with his 2-12 record and 6.77 ERA. The Dodgers are going to light him up.
Take the over.
