Thankfully, The Season Ends Tonight For Colorado

Colorado dropped to 43-118 with Saturday’s 4-3 loss, continuing what has been one of the toughest seasons in franchise history. The Rockies’ only offense came in the ninth inning when Hunter Goodman ripped a two-run double, but the late rally fell short as they left the tying runs stranded. Overall, Colorado managed just five hits and struck out 12 times, mirroring the offensive struggles that have plagued them all season.

This defeat extended Colorado’s slump to seven losses in its last nine games, and its road record remains among the worst in baseball. The lineup has struggled to make consistent contact, ranking near the bottom of the league in batting average and runs scored. Brenton Doyle and Goodman have provided occasional sparks, while Ezequiel Tovar has flashed some promise, but the overall production has been sparse. The pitching staff, stretched thin, has been unable to consistently keep games close.

On Sunday, Colorado will give the start to McCade Brown, who enters with a 1-5 record and 5.91 ERA. Brown has struggled with command at the major league level, issuing too many walks and leaving pitches up in the zone. The Rockies will need him to find early rhythm and avoid free passes against a patient Giants lineup. Offensively, they must generate pressure with Doyle and Goodman at the top while hoping Tovar can help provide run support in the middle.

Giants Looking To Finish With A Sweep

The Giants secured a 4–3 win Saturday behind a vintage performance from Justin Verlander, who struck out seven over six innings in his final start of the season. Verlander allowed two earned runs and walked one, earning his fourth win of the year and tying Bob Feller and Eppa Rixey for 34th on the all-time wins list with 266. Casey Schmitt provided the offensive spark with a three-run homer in the second inning, and Rafael Devers added a clutch RBI double in the eighth to pad the lead.

San Francisco improved to 80–81 and continued its dominance over Colorado, moving to 10–2 against the Rockies this season. The bullpen held firm late, with Spencer Bivens recording his second save after escaping a ninth-inning jam. Matt Chapman’s sliding catch in foul territory sealed the win, highlighting the team’s defensive sharpness. The Giants have now won four of their last five and are closing the season with momentum.

Logan Webb (14–11, 3.30 ERA) will take the mound Sunday in the finale. The All-Star righty has been excellent against Colorado this year, posting a 2–0 record with a 2.25 ERA and 13 strikeouts across two starts. With a chance to finish the season at .500, the Giants will lean on Webb’s consistency and hope the offense continues to deliver timely hits against a vulnerable Rockies staff.

Colorado Rockies vs San Francisco Giants Pick

Rockies vs Giants Moneyline Pick

  • San Francisco -1.5 (4 Units)

Logan Webb’s consistency and dominance against Colorado make the Giants -1.5 run line a strong play in Sunday’s finale. Webb enters with a 14–11 record and a 3.30 ERA, and he’s been particularly sharp against the Rockies, allowing just three earned runs across two starts this season while striking out 13. Colorado counters with rookie McCade Brown, who’s winless in four starts and carries a 7.54 ERA. Brown has struggled with command and hard contact, and San Francisco’s lineup—featuring power threats like Casey Schmitt and Rafael Devers—has the tools to exploit those weaknesses early.

The Giants have covered the run line in seven of their ten wins over Colorado this season, including Saturday’s 4–3 victory that came within inches of a larger margin. San Francisco’s bullpen has stabilized, and their defense continues to deliver in high-leverage spots. With Webb on the mound and the Rockies’ offense sputtering outside of solo homers, the setup favors a multi-run win. If the Giants score early and force Brown into long counts, they’re well-positioned to close the season with a decisive result.

Rockies vs Giants Over/Under Pick

  • Under 7.5 (5 Units)

Sunday’s matchup sets up well for a lower-scoring game, making the Under 7.5 a viable option. Logan Webb has held Colorado in check all season, and with McCade Brown’s struggles, the Giants could build an early lead without needing a late offensive surge. San Francisco’s bullpen has been reliable, and Colorado’s offense continues to rely on isolated home runs rather than sustained rallies. With cooler Bay Area conditions and two teams closing out the season, a tight, efficient game is more likely than a slugfest.
