Detroit is hunting the number one playoff seed
Detroit (84-63 SU, 70-77 RL, and 77-62-8 O/U) won two of three against the Yankees in its previous series. The Tigers are 5-5 in their last ten games (the over was 7-3).
The Tigers will turn to right-hander Charlie Morton tomorrow against Miami. In his last start (3.0 IP vs the White Sox), the 41-year-old surrendered three runs on four hits and three walks. He is 9-10 with a 5.59 ERA and 1.53 WHIP in 30 appearances (135.1 IP) this season, including 4-6 with a 5.49 ERA and 1.52 WHIP in 13 road appearances (60.2 IP).
Detroit broke out in 2024, winning 86 games in the regular season and riding a 31-11 surge into the Division Series. For a proud franchise and city, it was the type of season the fans deserved. Now, it's about building off that success by becoming a legitimate World Series favorite. The Tigers are hunting down the top seed in the American League and won't settle for anything less. Can they bring the championship trophy back to Michigan?

Marlins are off to a slow start to September
Miami (68-79 SU, 83-64 RL, and 73-69-5 O/U) split a four-game set with Washington in its previous series. The Marlins were 3-7 in their last ten games (the over was 5-4-1).
Miami will turn to right-hander Janson Junk on Saturday against Detroit. In his last outing, the 29-year-old allowed six runs on eight hits in 4.1 innings against the Nationals. He is 6-3 with a 4.48 ERA and 1.18 WHIP in 18 outings (92.1 IP) this year, including 2-3 with a 5.32 ERA and 1.20 WHIP in nine home appearances (44.0 IP).
The Marlins may not be on anyone's radar to make the postseason, but the ballclub has made significant strides in 2025. Miami has experienced its share of success this season, particularly on offense. The Fins scored 4.9 runs per game in August and have been competitive for most of the second half of the season. Can they finish with a winning record?

Tigers vs. Marlins Pick
Moneyline Pick for Tigers vs. Marlins
- Marlins ML +120 (5 Units)
Miami has value as a home underdog on Saturday afternoon.
The Fins should fare well against Morton, who hasn't pitched four full innings since August 26, allowing nine runs on nine hits and seven walks in 6.2 frames this month. The Marlins have fared better against right-handers (4th in BABIP, 14th in wOBA, and 15th in wRC+) than the Tigers (15th in BABIP, 16th in wOBA, and 17th in wRC+), as well. Junk has held four of his previous five opponents to three runs and rarely allows free passes, ranking in the 99th percentile of MLB pitchers in walk percentage this season.
Over/Under Pick for Tigers vs. Marlins
- Under 9 (4 Units)
I lean towards the under in Saturday's game. Junk has potential and enters this matchup with some momentum. Given how rarely he walks batters, the Tigers may struggle to put enough runners on base to make an impact. That will take pressure off the Miami bullpen, too. In an interleague matchup, both lineups have little to no experience against tomorrow's starters, which should work in the under's favor. Considering that the Fins rank 28th in home scoring, this total should be low if Junk can keep Detroit's bats in check.
