Houston lost their fifth straight game as they were outslugged in the opening game of the series Friday night. The Astros entered Saturday 6-8 on the year and stood fourth in the AL West, 1.5 games behind the Rangers for the top spot. The Mariners entered Saturday 5-9 on the year and sat in the basement in the AL West, 2.5 games behind the Rangers for the top spot. On Friday night, Seattle finished with nine hits in the contest with Randy Arozarena (run, three RBI) the lone player with two. Arozarena hit his first homer of the season for the Mariners in the victory. Emerson Hancock (2-1) earned the win as he threw five innings, allowing three runs on four hits with two walks and five strikeouts. Andres Munoz worked a scoreless ninth, allowing no hits with two walks and one strikeout, for his first save.
