The 2025 Major League Baseball season continues Saturday, September 20, with the Los Angeles Angels facing off against the Colorado Rockies in the interleague battle at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado, so we’ve got the Angels vs. Rockies prediction and the latest odds update.
It’s the second of a three-game series at Coors Field, and Friday’s opener has been excluded from this preview. The Angels are slight -125 favorites for Saturday’s clash, while the total sits at 11.5 runs. The probable starters are Kyle Hendricks (Los Angeles) and German Marquez (Colorado).

The Angels hope for a bounce-back display from Hendricks
The Los Angeles Angels headed to Colorado riding a seven-game losing streak. They’ve been swept in consecutive road series, dropping four games against the Seattle Mariners and three against the Milwaukee Brewers.

During that seven-game stretch, the Angels have only scored 18 runs on a terrible .172/.208/.335 slash line. Their bullpen has been shaky, tallying a 4.60 ERA and 1.34 WHIP across 31.1 innings of work.
Kyle Hendricks is expected to toe the slab Saturday, and the 35-year-old right-hander carries a 7-10 record with a 5.01 ERA and 1.32 WHIP in 29 starts (152.2 innings pitched) in 2025. He was horrendous last Sunday, allowing nine earned runs on 10 hits and two walks across just 3.1 innings in an 11-2 loss against the Mariners.
Hendricks is 4-3 with a 3.95 ERA in 11 career starts against Colorado. He met the Rockies once in 2024 and tossed six innings of a one-run, two-hit ball in a winning effort at Coors Field. Hendricks sports a strong 3.28 ERA and 1.01 WHIP at Coors Field (six starts, 35.2 IP), and the current Rockies are 13-for-49 with four doubles, a triple, and a home run against him.
The Rockies are slumping big-time, too
The Colorado Rockies were looking to snap a five-game skid on Friday night. They’ve only won one of their previous 12 games overall, and the Rockies will finish the regular season as the worst team in baseball by far.
The Rocks have scored 25 runs over their previous five outings while surrendering 43 runs in return. They’ve slashed .257/.304/.436, but their pitching has been awful. The Rockies bullpen has amassed a 6.95 ERA, 1.55 WHIP, and a .315 batting average against during that stretch.
German Marquez is projected to take the mound on Saturday night. The 30-year-old right-hander is 3-14 with an ugly 6.73 ERA and 1.76 WHIP in 24 starts (115 IP) this season. Last Sunday, Marquez gave up seven earned runs on 10 hits and two walks through 2.1 innings in a 9-6 defeat at the Padres.
Marquez is 0-1 with a 4.05 ERA in two career starts against the Angels. He hasn’t met them since 2021, and the current Angels are 7-for-25 without extra-base hits against Marquez.
Angels vs. Rockies Pick
Moneyline Pick for Angels vs. Rockies
- Los Angeles Angels (5 units)
Both Kyle Hendricks and German Marquez should pitch better than they did last Sunday. While I can trust Hendricks to improve, I’m not sure that I can say the same about Marquez, who has allowed a whopping 24 earned runs on 33 hits and nine walks over his last four starts and 16.2 innings of work.
Hendricks has allowed 12 earned runs on 24 hits and six walks through his previous four starts and 22.1 frames of work. He’s pitched well at Coors Field during his career, so I’m backing the Angels to come out on top.
Over/Under Pick for Angels vs. Rockies
- Over 11.5 (5 units)
The Angels’ lineup has struggled a lot lately, and a three-game series at Coors Field is a perfect opportunity for the Halos to get things going at the plate. I mentioned how bad German Marquez and the Rockies bullpen have been over the last few weeks.
Hereof, I can only look at the over when it comes to the total in this game. The Rockies’ lineup has been solid during the team’s losing streak, and Colorado will find a way to score a few runs and push the total over the line.
