Los Angeles Finishes on the Road
The Los Angeles Dodgers have already played their last game at home in the 2025 regular season, but will still play games in LA come playoff time. The Dodgers have already clinched a playoff berth, but have not yet claimed the NL West crown, as they are only two games ahead of the Padres as we head down the stretch. The Dodgers will finish up this series in Arizona, then head up to Seattle to finish the season with three more games on the road.
The Dodgers have surprisingly struggled with Arizona this season, as they have lost 6 of their 11 matchups leading into Wednesday night. They lost on Tuesday, giving up two runs in the bottom of the ninth to fall 5-4. Their offense came from Teoscar Hernandez, who had a home run and a triple, combining the two at-bats to finish with three RBIs. He batted fifth as their right fielder and has 25 home runs with 88 RBIs and a .246 batting average. Shohei Ohtani is having another strong season as he leads the Dodgers with 53 home runs and 99 RBIs, while batting a strong .282 from the top of the lineup as their DH.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto will make his 30th and final start of the regular season. He has an 11-8 record with the team going 3-2 overall in his last five starts. His ERA is 2.58 to go with 194 strikeouts against 57 walks. In his last outing, he pitched 5.1 scoreless innings in a win over the Giants.

Diamondbacks Rally Late
The Arizona Diamondbacks were down 4-3 heading into the ninth inning in the first game of this series against the Dodgers, but were able to pull out a late win. Jorge Barrosa hit a sac-fly from the bottom of the lineup to get the inning started, then Geraldo Perdomo hit the game-winning RBI-single to finish off the game. Arizona is only one game out of the final Wild Card spot, tied with the Reds as both teams attempt to steal the final playoff spot away from the Mets.
Perdomo is their leadoff hitter, and the shortstop has been productive this season. The 25-year-old is in his fifth season in the Majors and has played all five years with Arizona. This season, he has 19 home runs and 98 RBIs, and is 14th in the MLB with his .291 batting average. Ketel Marte went 1-4 on Tuesday. He plays second base and bats second in the lineup with his 26 home runs and 70 RBIs. Marte was joined on the All-Star Team by Corbin Carroll, the outfielder has contributed another 83 RBIs and leads the team with 31 home runs.
Zac Gallen will make his 33rd start of the year as a 30-year-old right-hander. He has a 13-14 record, with the team winning in four of his last five starts. His ERA is 4.70 with 172 strikeouts against 63 walks. In his last start, Gallen gave up three runs over seven innings in a win over the Phillies.
Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks picks
Moneyline pick and prediction for Dodgers vs. Diamondbacks
- Dodgers (5 units)
Both teams have motivation to win in this game, but the Dodgers are the better team, battling for the divisional crown and will pull out a win here. On top of that, the Dodgers are sending out the better pitcher, and are out for some revenge as Arizona has given them trouble this season. Yamamoto has pitched exactly 20 fewer innings than Gallen this season, but he has 22 more strikeouts and has given up 16 fewer home runs. The Dodgers are at full strength in their lineup, including Ohtani, who looks as if he will finish third in home runs in the league, barring a late explosion. Home field advantage in the later rounds of the playoffs is on the line over the Dodgers' final four games, and they will not miss this opportunity.
Take the Dodgers to win.
Over/Under Pick for Dodgers vs. Diamondbacks
- Under (4 units)
These pitchers have been in their starting rotations all season, and both have double-digit wins on the year, they will power their teams to a low scoring battle. Yamamoto is a strikeout machine for the Dodgers, and does not give up many home runs. He will control the top portion of the Arizona lineup, as the talent in the bottom half of the order significantly drops off. Gallen is a quality starter, and has actually led Arizona to a 4-1 overall stretch in his last four outings. Both pitchers will look good here in the final battle between these squads, resulting in an under.
Take the under.
