The Los Angeles Dodgers are still holding on to the top spot in the NL West, but are in risk of losing that spot after their recent losing streak. The Dodgers went to Pittsburgh and promptly got swept by the Pirates who sit in last place in the NL Central. The Dodgers are still holding a small lead in the NL West, as they are two games ahead of the Padres in the playoff run. In their last game against Pittsburgh, Paul Skenes dominated the game for Pittsburgh, helping to build an insurmountable lead in the win.
Mookie Betts homered in the ninth inning in their final loss against the Pirates, but it was too little too late as the Dodgers still went down. Betts batted second as the shortstop in the lineup, and is in his sixth season with the Dodgers after playing six seasons with the Red Sox to start his career. This year, Betts has 15 home runs and 61 RBIs while batting .250 at the plate. Trevor Rogers will make his 15th start of the season as a 27-year-old left-hander. He has a strong 8-2 record, with the team winning in each of his last five starts. His ERA is 1.39 to go with 81 strikeouts against 19 walks. In his last start, Rogers gave up one run in seven innings in a win over the Giants.
