Los Angeles Dodgers vs Milwaukee Brewers NLCS Game 1 Picks, Prediction, Odds, and Line Movement for Sunday October 11 2026
The National League Championship Series opens Sunday with exactly the matchup Milwaukee spent the entire season trying to earn. The Brewers won 103 games, secured home-field advantage and now get another shot at the Dodgers team that swept them out of the NLCS last October.
Los Angeles enters as the two-time defending World Series champion, but this is not the same Milwaukee team the Dodgers dismissed a year ago. The Brewers won the 2026 season series 4-3, finished with the best record in baseball and bring a deeper, more varied offense into a Game 1 that could feature two of the most dominant starting pitchers in the sport.
Milwaukee is -107 with Los Angeles at -103 and the total at 6. At essentially a pick'em price, home field, the expected starting matchup and the Brewers' ability to manufacture offense give Milwaukee the slight edge.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs Milwaukee Brewers NLCS Game 1 Preview
The expected pitching matchup is worthy of an NLCS opener. Milwaukee is lined up to use Jacob Misiorowski, who led the majors with a 1.80 ERA, 252 strikeouts, a 0.80 WHIP and a .157 opponents' batting average. Los Angeles is expected to counter with Tarik Skubal, who opened the NLDS by holding Atlanta to one run on two hits over six innings with seven strikeouts.
Misiorowski is particularly interesting against this Dodgers lineup because he has already shown that his velocity can play against Los Angeles. In three career appearances against the Dodgers, he owns a 1.59 ERA with 27 strikeouts and only three walks over 17 innings. His first pitch of the NLDS reached 104.8 mph, and few teams are equipped to match that kind of pure stuff.
The concern is workload efficiency. San Diego fouled off 30 pitches against Misiorowski in four innings in the NLDS opener, forcing him to 88 pitches before the fifth. Los Angeles has enough veteran hitters to take a similar approach. Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman and Will Smith do not need to square up 102 mph repeatedly if they can extend at-bats, force Misiorowski into deeper counts and get Milwaukee into the bullpen early.
That challenge works both ways. Skubal joins a Dodgers rotation that allowed just four earned runs in 21 1/3 NLDS innings, a 1.69 ERA. Los Angeles advanced because its pitching gave the offense room to survive an uneven series at the plate.
The Dodgers had only one hit in 20 at-bats with runners in scoring position against Atlanta, and several important bats are still looking for rhythm. Shohei Ohtani hit .154 in the Division Series and Will Smith .063, while Andy Pages finally delivered the decisive two-run single in Game 4 after struggling early in the series. Los Angeles still has enormous power, but Milwaukee has reason to believe it can keep the Dodgers from stringing together big innings.

How Milwaukee Can Attack Los Angeles
Milwaukee does not need to beat Los Angeles at its own power game. The Brewers built the best record in baseball with a lineup that creates offense in several ways: they hit .258 during the regular season, posted a .341 on-base percentage, stole 152 bases and were among baseball's least chase-prone teams.
That approach matters against Skubal. Trying to ambush an ace left-hander may produce a few hard-hit balls, but Milwaukee's larger advantage comes from forcing him to throw strikes, extending innings and creating movement on the bases when opportunities arise.
William Contreras enters the series as the hottest Brewers hitter after batting .375/.444/.750 with two home runs against San Diego. Jackson Chourio can pressure the defense immediately, while Christian Yelich and Brice Turang give Milwaukee different ways to create baserunners even when the home-run ball is not there.
Turang's NLDS was quiet after an excellent September, but the larger offensive profile remains important. Milwaukee can bunt, run, hit behind runners and turn one walk or single into a scoring opportunity without waiting for a three-run homer. That is particularly valuable in a game with a total of only six.
Bullpens Could Decide Game 1
Milwaukee's relief corps was nearly untouchable against San Diego. Brewers relievers covered 19 innings in four NLDS games and posted a 0.47 ERA while holding opponents to a .169 average. Aaron Ashby, Abner Uribe and Trevor Megill handled most of the high-leverage work and now enter the NLCS with several days of rest.
Los Angeles is hardly short on late-game options. Edwin Díaz saved the final two NLDS games, Tanner Scott remains another closing option and the Dodgers have enough bullpen depth to shorten a game once the starter reaches the middle innings.
That makes the first six innings especially important. Milwaukee's best chance is to make Skubal work, keep Misiorowski from running his pitch count up too quickly and reach the late innings with a lead. If Los Angeles gets Misiorowski out early, the advantage of Milwaukee's rested late-inning trio becomes much harder to deploy cleanly.
Dodgers vs Brewers Betting Trends
The betting data supports Milwaukee without needing to carry the handicap. The Brewers are 106-60 on the moneyline for +24.10 units and 57-26 at home for +16.40 units. Los Angeles has won 103 games but remains down 14.15 units overall on the moneyline, illustrating how expensive the Dodgers have been to back.
Milwaukee also won four of seven head-to-head meetings during the regular season. That does not erase Los Angeles' sweep in last year's NLCS, but it is meaningful evidence that this Brewers roster can compete with the Dodgers over multiple styles of game.

Best Bet - Milwaukee Brewers ML (-107)
This is close to a true coin flip, and that is exactly why Milwaukee is attractive at -107. The Brewers have home field, the expected Misiorowski matchup is capable of neutralizing Los Angeles' power and Milwaukee's bullpen enters the series rested after dominating San Diego.
The Dodgers remain the more intimidating postseason opponent. Their rotation has been excellent, Skubal is capable of taking over Game 1 and the lineup has enough star power to break a low-scoring game with one swing.
Milwaukee's advantage is that it does not need to beat Los Angeles in a slugfest. The Brewers can win with Misiorowski missing bats, Contreras and Chourio generating the offense, and Ashby, Uribe and Megill protecting a narrow lead.
The home moneyline return and season-long profitability support that baseball case, but they are not the reason for the pick. At essentially even money, the Brewers have enough matchup advantages to deserve the slight edge in Game 1.

Game Thesis: Los Angeles brings championship experience and the deeper collection of stars, but Milwaukee matches the Dodgers with elite starting pitching, a rested bullpen and a lineup built to manufacture runs in a low-scoring game. At home and near even money, the Brewers are the better Game 1 side.
