First Place Doesn't Matter for Milwaukee

The Milwaukee Brewers worked hard all season to finish with the top overall seed in the National League. This granted them a first-round bye and home-field advantage through the National League Playoffs, but unfortunately, this is not enough to advance. The Brewers lost their first two games of this series, both at home, and will now be on the road for Games 3, 4, and 5. This means Milwaukee will need to win at least two of three on the road to survive. In Game 2, the Brewers finished with only three hits in the 5-1 loss.

Their one run in the game came off a leadoff home run from Jackson Chourio in the bottom of the first inning, but the Brewers could not generate any more offense after that big swing. Chourio took right field in the game after spending most of the season at centerfield as a 21-year-old right-handed batter. Chourio has two homers and a team-high eight RBIs in the postseason, while having the team's best batting average at .320. William Contreras and Andrew Vaughn also have two postseason home runs. Contreras had the stronger regular season as their catcher with 17 home runs and 76 RBIs on the year.

The Brewers have not yet announced their starter for this game, but manager Pat Murphy reportedly said that everyone will be available except for Freddy Peralta, who started Game 2. Milwaukee's team ERA through the postseason has been 3.39.

Dodgers are Road Warriors

The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Phillies in the NLDS after winning the first two games on the road as the lower seed. They hope to follow the same script here, as they won the first two games of this series in Milwaukee, before heading home, where they only need two out of three to advance. The Dodgers powered their way to a 5-1 victory in Game 2 behind home runs from Teoscar Hernandez and Max Muncy.

Hernandez has been one of the top performers of the postseason, as he leads the team with four home runs and ten RBIs, while batting a strong .294 at the plate. Hernandez is the former Home Run Derby Champion, and finished the season with 25 home runs and 89 RBIs, he batted sixth in the lineup in Game 2. Muncy batted fifth as their third baseman. He homered in the sixth inning, hitting his first of the postseason. Tommy Edman had two hits and an RBI in the victory. He is batting .296 with two home runs in the postseason while batting seventh as their second baseman.

Tyler Glasnow will make his second start of the postseason, and his third appearance overall as a 32-year-old right-hander for the Dodgers. He came in as a reliever against the Phillies, before starting Game 4 in that series, where he pitched six scoreless innings, allowing Milwaukee Brewers picks

Run line pick and prediction for Brewers vs. Dodgers

  • Dodgers -1.5 +115 (4 units)

The Dodgers smell blood in the water, and you will need to lay the extra run here to be profitable as the Dodgers cruise to a Game 3 win. Los Angeles is listed as a -190 favorite on the moneyline, but is getting plus money laying the extra run and a half. The Brewers do not know who they will be starting just yet, but they know their bullpen is running this. The Dodgers are starting Glasnow, and though he missed some time in the regular season, he is still a dominant force on the mound. Glasnow started against the Phillies, pitching six scoreless innings, allowing only two hits. The Dodgers have not gotten much production from Ohtani, showing how strong their lineup is as they are still ripping off wins. The Dodgers are too good right now.

Take the Dodgers on the runline.

Over/Under Pick for Brewers vs. Dodgers

  • Over 7.5 (4 units)

The first two games of this series have gone under the total, and it is time to buck that trend as Milwaukee gets desperate, as Los Angeles stays hot. The main reason for this play is that the Brewers are running out of healthy arms to send to the mound, which will end with the Dodgers putting up a big number here. Hernandez has been on fire, with Ohtani, Betts and Freeman ready to strike at any moment. Milwaukee does not have the ability to play conservatively, as they are down 0-2 in the series and will be looking to generate runs in any way possible. Expect a high-scoring game here.

Take the over.
