Milwaukee is on the Ropes
The Milwaukee Brewers were the top team in the National League this season, but that will all be forgotten if they cannot pull off a legendary run here to avoid elimination. Milwaukee would need to become the second team ever to come back from a 3-0 deficit, matching the 2004 Red Sox. The Brewers need to find their offense, as they have only scored one run in each of the first three games of this series.
Game 2 saw their only run come from a Jackson Chourio home run, but Game 3 saw their only run manufactured off a Jake Bauers RBI single. No Brewer has yet to hit more than two home runs in the postseason, and Chourio is leading the way with eight RBIs, including his two home runs. There was not much offense in Game 3, as the Brewers lost while only recording four hits, but the Dodgers snuck out with a win after putting just five players on base. Christian Yelich had one of those hits, but has been underwhelming in the postseason as he is hitting only .192 at the plate.
Milwaukee has yet to name its starter for this game, but Jacob Misiorowski is out, and Freddy Peralta is unlikely to go as well as the two pitchers started Games 2 and 3. Chad Patrick started Game 1, and is a potential option here if the coaching staff thinks he is ready. The pitching has not been the problem, as they have performed well enough, but the Brewers have not generated enough offense.
Dodgers Stay Hot
The Los Angeles Dodgers were not able to grab a bye for the Wild Card Round, but that does not bother them anymore, as they powered through the Reds, then the Phillies on their way to the NLCS. The Dodger pitching has been excellent, with Blake Snell and Yoshinoby Yamamoto putting up strong performances in the first two games, and the entire staff has only allowed three combined runs over the three games. In Game 3, Tyler Glasnow gave up one run in 5.2 innings as their starter.
The Dodgers got offense from three of their stars. Mookie Betts hit an RBI-double in the first inning, Tommy Edman had an RBI-single in the sixth, and Freddie Freeman was able to cross the plate after a failed pick-off attempt in the same inning. Betts is batting .303 in the playoffs, with five RBIs, while Edman has been strong as well, batting .296 with four RBIs. Teoscar Hernandez leads them with four postseason home runs. The real mystery has been Shohei Ohtani, who is batting just .147 in the playoffs.
Shohei Ohtani is scheduled to get the start for the Dodgers in Game 4, which will mark just his second start of the postseason. He started in Game 1 against the Phillies in the NLDS, with a modest performance as he allowed three earned runs over six innings in a game the Dodgers won. The Dodgers have been letting their pitchers go deep into the game this series, but do not expect that from Ohtani, as the staff knows not to risk injury to their star player, who has an impact on both sides of the game.

Run line pick and prediction for Brewers vs. Dodgers
- Dodgers -1.5 +125 (4 units)
The Dodgers have been the play all series, and there is no reason to see that stopping here. Their lineup is loaded and healthy. They have not been getting offensive production from Shohei Ohtani, but that has not mattered as the rest of the lineup has been stepping up to power their way to wins. Ohtani will make his presence felt from the mound in this game, and considering how well his teammates have been offensively, the managerial staff might let him pitch late into the game if he is in a rhythm. Milwaukee is slumping hard, and it is in their head. They only scored one run in each of the first three games; they cannot be trusted to flip the switch here.
Take the Dodgers to cover the run line.
Over/Under Pick for Brewers vs. Dodgers
- Under 7.5 (4 units)
Baseball players can find their ways into slumps where they cannot seem to hit the ball, and their averages plummet. This is certainly happening to Shohei Ohtani, as the star outfielder is batting only .147 at the plate this postseason, after being one of the best batters in baseball over the past three seasons. Ohtani might be in a slump, but the entire Milwaukee offense is in a slump as well. They have only scored one run in each of their last three, and do not have the same type of fire or star power that Los Angeles has to be able to break them out of their slump. They have not been able to manufacture runs as they did in the regular season, and those struggles will continue here
