Milwaukee Brewers vs Los Angeles Dodgers NLCS Game 3 Picks, Prediction, Odds, and Line Movement for Wednesday October 14 2026
Milwaukee has pushed the two-time defending champions into a place Los Angeles has not occupied often: desperation. The Brewers won the first two games of the NLCS at home, following a 2-1 opener with a 7-4 victory Monday, and now arrive at Dodger Stadium with a chance to take complete control of the series.
Los Angeles sends Blake Snell to the mound in Game 3 against Robert Gasser, and the Dodgers are -172 favorites despite everything that has happened through the first two games. Milwaukee is +154 with the total at 7.5. The Dodgers have the more accomplished starter and home field, but the Brewers have been the sharper baseball team throughout the series.

Milwaukee Brewers vs Los Angeles Dodgers NLCS Game 3 Preview
Milwaukee's 2-0 lead has not come from one hot hitter or one dominant starter. The Brewers have repeatedly forced Los Angeles into uncomfortable baseball. They have extended at-bats, created traffic, taken extra bases and then handed leads to a bullpen that has been nearly untouchable throughout October.
Game 2 was the clearest example. William Contreras went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs, Christian Yelich drove in two more, and Milwaukee collected 12 hits. Four Brewers relievers then retired all 15 Dodgers they faced, striking out seven while protecting the lead over the final five innings.
Los Angeles managed only three hits in that game, and none of its four runs scored on a hit. The Dodgers have struggled all postseason to convert their chances, while Shohei Ohtani enters Game 3 just 3-for-20 without an extra-base hit. He will remain in the lineup, but Los Angeles needs far more from the top and middle of the order if it wants to avoid falling behind 3-0.
Robert Gasser vs Blake Snell
Snell is the strongest argument for Los Angeles. The veteran left-hander owns a 2.45 postseason ERA and has spent his career missing bats in exactly this type of high-pressure matchup. A year ago, he threw eight innings of one-hit baseball against Milwaukee in the NLCS, and the Dodgers need something resembling that performance Wednesday.
His most recent postseason outing was less efficient. Snell needed 3 2/3 innings to navigate five walks, which is a dangerous way to pitch against a Milwaukee offense that has been willing to grind through long plate appearances. The Brewers showed that approach again Monday when Jake Bauers worked a 12-pitch walk against Yoshinobu Yamamoto moments before Yelich delivered a two-run single.
Gasser does not bring Snell's résumé, but his current form gives Milwaukee a legitimate chance to stay attached early. He finished the regular season with a 1.67 ERA over his final six outings and allowed only one run in four innings against San Diego in the Division Series.
The Dodgers did have success against Gasser earlier in the year, and that is the concern for Milwaukee. He faced Los Angeles twice during the regular season and posted a 5.91 ERA, although his August start included seven strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings. Gasser needs to keep the ball away from the Dodgers' right-handed damage bats and avoid giving Los Angeles the early momentum it has lacked so far in the series.
Can the Dodgers' Offense Finally Break Through?
The Los Angeles lineup remains too talented to stay this quiet forever, but the Brewers have done an excellent job preventing the Dodgers from stacking productive at-bats. Ohtani has been cold, and the overall offense is hitting below .200 this postseason. Even when runners have reached scoring position, Los Angeles has struggled to bring them home.
Kyle Tucker has been the Dodgers' most consistent hitter in October, while Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman remain capable of changing the game quickly. The issue is getting several of those bats working in the same inning before Milwaukee can reach its preferred bullpen matchups.
That becomes particularly important Wednesday because the Brewers' relievers have been one of the biggest mismatches in the series. If Gasser can get through four or five innings with Milwaukee tied or ahead, manager Pat Murphy has repeatedly shown he can shorten the rest of the game.
Los Angeles therefore needs to make Gasser uncomfortable immediately. Allowing him to settle into his slider and changeup while the Brewers protect another narrow lead would put enormous pressure on a Dodgers bullpen that already had to cover more than five innings Monday.
Brewers vs Dodgers Betting Trends
The season-long numbers support Milwaukee as a secondary piece of the handicap. The Brewers finished the regular season 103-59 and went 48-33 away from home. Los Angeles was 100-62 overall and 51-30 at Dodger Stadium, so neither side reaches Game 3 with a weak underlying team profile.
The difference is the price. Los Angeles is being asked to justify -172 in a series where Milwaukee has already shown it can handle the Dodgers' stars, win close games and create separation late.
That does not make the Dodgers undeserving favorites. Snell gives them a legitimate starting-pitching advantage, and returning to Dodger Stadium changes the environment. The question is whether that advantage is large enough to make Milwaukee only a 39% proposition.

Best Bet - Milwaukee Brewers ML (+154)
Milwaukee +154 is the Best Bet because the Brewers have more ways to keep this game close than the price suggests. Snell may control the first half of the game, but Milwaukee has consistently extended at-bats against elite pitching and owns the stronger bullpen form entering Game 3.
The Dodgers can absolutely respond at home, especially if Ohtani or Freeman finally produces a signature October swing. Gasser's previous struggles against Los Angeles are also a real concern.
But Milwaukee does not need Gasser to dominate Snell. The Brewers need four or five competitive innings, enough offense to stay within a run, and another chance to hand the game to their relief corps. That game script has already worked twice in this series.
At +154, the payout is large enough to back the team that has played the better baseball through two games.

Game Thesis: Snell gives Los Angeles its best chance to change the series, but Milwaukee's disciplined offense and dominant bullpen give the Brewers a realistic path to another close victory. The Dodgers are more likely to win than the first two games suggest, but -172 is a steep price against a Milwaukee club that has controlled the series so far.
Final Prediction
Prediction: Milwaukee Brewers 3, Los Angeles Dodgers 2
