The Milwaukee Brewers visit the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday at 12:15 PM ET at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Milwaukee enters the matchup with a 59-34 record and leads the NL Central, while Pittsburgh is 47-47 and sits fourth in the division. The Brewers have won four of their last five games after taking three of four in St. Louis, while the Pirates have dropped two straight after being outscored 13-5 by Atlanta over their last two contests. Sunday's finale features one of the best pitching matchups of the weekend as Jacob Misiorowski faces Paul Skenes. Build your bankroll with our free MLB picks.

Milwaukee Brewers Looking to Stay on Top of the NL Central

Milwaukee continues to win behind one of baseball's most complete rosters. The Brewers rank fifth in MLB with a .255 team batting average while scoring 476 runs on 808 hits. Jake Bauers leads the club with 17 home runs and 57 RBI while posting a .268 average and .505 slugging percentage. William Contreras continues to provide consistency with a .281 batting average and a team-high 95 hits, while Brice Turang, Jackson Chourio, and Garrett Mitchell have supplied production throughout the lineup.

The Brewers have separated themselves with elite pitching. Milwaukee leads Major League Baseball with a 3.33 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP while limiting opponents to a .217 batting average. Brewers pitchers have struck out 903 hitters through 93 games, giving the club one of the deepest staffs in baseball. Milwaukee has also gone 21-13 in day games this season, and the combination of dependable pitching and timely offense has helped the Brewers build a comfortable lead atop the division.

Injuries: Coleman Crow (15-Day IL), Kyle Harrison (Day-To-Day), David Hamilton (10-Day IL), Rob Zastryzny (15-Day IL), Carlos Rodriguez (15-Day IL).

Pittsburgh Pirates Looking to Bounce Back at Home

Pittsburgh has quietly produced one of the better offenses in the National League despite sitting at .500. The Pirates rank second in MLB with a .262 batting average while scoring 492 runs with 857 hits and 120 home runs. Brandon Lowe leads the lineup with 21 home runs and 64 RBI, while Nick Gonzales is batting .310 with 101 hits. Bryan Reynolds owns a .395 on-base percentage, Ryan O'Hearn has added 16 home runs and 61 RBI.

The pitching staff has been less consistent. Pittsburgh enters Sunday with a 4.32 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP while allowing opponents to bat .239. The Pirates have recorded 858 strikeouts but have also issued 340 walks, creating extra traffic on the bases. Pittsburgh has been solid at PNC Park with a 24-24 home record, but facing Milwaukee's balanced lineup presents another difficult challenge after a demanding series against Atlanta.

Injuries: Wilber Dotel (15-Day IL), Endy Rodriguez (10-Day IL), Evan Sisk (15-Day IL), Chris Devenski (60-Day IL), Spencer Horwitz (10-Day IL).

Pitching Matchup

Milwaukee Brewers – Jacob Misiorowski

Misiorowski has emerged as one of baseball's most dominant starters, posting a 10-4 record with a 1.62 ERA and an outstanding 0.76 WHIP across 111.0 innings. The right-hander has surrendered only 57 hits while striking out 167 batters against just 27 walks.

Pittsburgh Pirates – Paul Skenes

Skenes enters with a 7-8 record, a 3.58 ERA, and a 1.04 WHIP over 103.0 innings. The hard-throwing right-hander has allowed 84 hits while striking out 123 batters and walking only 23. Although his win-loss record does not reflect it, Skenes has continued to pitch well throughout the first half of the season.

Milwaukee Brewers vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Game Pick

  • Milwaukee Brewers

This matchup features two outstanding starters, but Milwaukee has the edge because it combines elite pitching with a deeper overall roster. The Brewers lead the majors in ERA and opponent batting average, while Misiorowski has been nearly untouchable with a 1.62 ERA and a 0.76 WHIP. Pittsburgh has enough offensive talent to compete behind Lowe and Gonzales, but Milwaukee's lineup has consistently produced timely hits and enters the series in better form. With the league's top pitching staff backing one of baseball's hottest teams, the Brewers are the play.

Milwaukee Brewers vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Over/Under Pick

  • Under

Both starting pitchers have the ability to control this matchup from the opening inning. Misiorowski has dominated hitters all season, while Skenes continues to miss bats at an elite rate despite receiving limited run support. Milwaukee owns the best ERA in baseball, and Pittsburgh has enough pitching talent to keep the Brewers from putting together a big offensive performance. With two frontline starters on the mound and both bullpens capable of protecting late leads, expect scoring opportunities to be limited. The under is the play.
