MLB Best Bets Today – Friday, September 30 2025
Use Code WWWC Tuesday’s MLB playoff slate brings plenty of opportunities, and we’ve zeroed in on the best spots to strike. Three games rise to the top, each backed by pitching analysis, offensive form, and situational edges. With momentum rolling after a strong Wednesday, the goal is simple—stack more wins and grow the bankroll on the diamond.
Below, let's take a look at some of my favorite MLB picks for today, in best bets form.
Best Bet #1 - Padres Have The Edge In Game 1
San Diego looks poised to take Game 1 with Nick Pivetta toeing the rubber. The veteran righty has been a model of consistency, finishing the regular season 13–5 with a 2.87 ERA and 190 strikeouts across 181.2 innings. He’s kept walks in check and shown the ability to dominate lineups with swing-and-miss stuff. In a short series, having a dependable arm like Pivetta is a major asset—especially against a Chicago offense that’s been prone to chasing. If he commands the zone early, the Padres can lean on a bullpen that’s been lights-out in late innings.
Offensively, the Padres bring a balanced attack that doesn’t rely solely on star power. Tatis Jr. and Machado are proven playoff performers, but it’s the steady presence of Luis Arraez and the depth contributions from Bogaerts and Cronenworth that round out the lineup. Facing Matthew Boyd, who’s had a respectable year but lacks overpowering velocity, San Diego’s disciplined approach could wear him down quickly. By extending counts and capitalizing on mistakes, the Padres have the tools to control the pace and grab the early edge in the Wild Card series.

Best Bet #1
- San Diego -105
Best Bet #2 - Plenty Of Runs Out West
Even with two quality arms on the mound, the Over 7 looks like a strong play in this matchup. Hunter Greene has been sharp with a 2.76 ERA, but his vulnerability to the long ball remains a concern—especially against a Dodgers lineup loaded with power bats like Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, and Max Muncy. Greene’s high-octane fastball can miss bats, but when he misses spots, it tends to leave the yard. If L.A. gets a couple of early barrels, this game could tilt toward a shootout quickly.
On the other side, Blake Snell has been excellent with a 2.35 ERA, but he’s only made 11 starts this season and may not be stretched deep into the game. That opens the door for middle relief exposure, and Cincinnati’s offense has shown it can capitalize late. Both teams have the ability to put up crooked numbers in a hurry, and with postseason urgency driving aggressive plate approaches, the total feels light. If either starter falters or exits early, the bats are more than capable of pushing this one past the number.
Best Bet #2
- Cincinnati/LA Dodgers Over 7
Best Bet #3 - A Pitcher's Duel In The Bronx
Game 1 of the Wild Card series between Boston and New York sets up as a classic under spot, with two high-end lefties on the mound and playoff tension likely to suppress scoring. Max Fried leads the Yankees with a 2.86 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP, and he’s been dominant down the stretch, allowing just eight earned runs over his final seven starts. His postseason track record adds another layer of confidence, especially against a Red Sox lineup that’s been inconsistent against left-handed pitching. Fried’s ability to work deep and limit damage should keep Boston’s scoring in check.
Garrett Crochet counters for Boston, and while he’s less experienced in October, his regular-season numbers are elite: 2.59 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, and strong strikeout-to-walk ratios. He’s handled the Yankees well in multiple starts this year, and his ability to generate soft contact could neutralize New York’s power threats. With both teams likely to play tight and lean on their bullpens early, the pace and style of this game favor a lower total. Unless one side breaks through with a big inning, this matchup profiles as a 3–2 or 4–2 type finish—making the Under 7 a sharp play.
