The Yankee Offense Is Rolling

The Yankees enter Thursday’s matchup riding a wave of offensive momentum after a 10–5 win over Minnesota, where they piled up 12 hits and launched three home runs. Trent Grisham led the charge with a pair of long balls, Cody Bellinger added a solo shot in the ninth, and Aaron Judge delivered a 3-for-4 performance that included a double and a stolen base. Despite a shaky outing from Luis Gil, who gave up five earned runs in under five innings, the bullpen stepped up with 4.1 scoreless frames to secure the win. New York has now won three of its last four and remains firmly in the playoff hunt, sitting four games back in the AL East and within striking distance of a Wild Card spot. With the offense clicking and the rotation stabilizing, every game down the stretch carries weight—and Thursday’s matchup is no exception.

This Yankees lineup continues to be one of the most dangerous in baseball, blending elite power with improved situational hitting. Judge remains the centerpiece, leading the team with 48 home runs and a .326 batting average, while Bellinger and Grisham have combined for 58 homers and 161 RBIs. The team ranks fourth in slugging percentage (.490) and sixth in total runs scored (759), and they’ve scored four or more runs in eight of their last ten games. What’s more, they’ve hit 13 home runs over that stretch, showing their ability to flip games quickly with one swing. The addition of Jasson Domínguez and Jazz Chisholm has added speed and versatility to the lineup, giving manager Aaron Boone more options to pressure opposing defenses and manufacture runs when needed.

Max Fried gets the start Thursday, and he’s been everything the Yankees could ask for in a frontline arm. He enters with a 17–5 record, a 3.03 ERA, and 169 strikeouts over 181.1 innings, consistently working deep into games and limiting damage. Fried has allowed just 36 walks all season and holds opponents to a .228 average, making him one of the most efficient starters in the league. Against a Baltimore lineup that ranks bottom-third in slugging and run production, Fried’s ability to control tempo and avoid big innings gives New York a clear edge. With the bullpen rested and the offense surging, the Yankees are well-positioned to take command early and close strong.

Orioles Are Just Playing Out The String

Baltimore returns home after a well-earned 3–1 win over the White Sox, where they leaned on timely hitting and strong pitching to close out their third straight victory. Dylan Beavers provided the spark with a two-run homer in the fourth, while Tyler Wells delivered six innings of one-run ball, striking out five and walking none. Gunnar Henderson added three stolen bases and scored on a Jeremiah Jackson single, showcasing the team’s aggressive baserunning and ability to manufacture offense. The bullpen was sharp, combining for three scoreless innings and allowing just one baserunner. While the Orioles are out of playoff contention, they’ve embraced the spoiler role with energy and confidence, and they’ve shown a willingness to challenge contenders with a mix of youth and grit.

The lineup has been streaky but shows flashes of upside, especially with Henderson and Jackson Holliday leading the charge. Henderson enters with a .274 average, 16 home runs, and 64 RBIs, while Holliday has added 17 homers and a .253 average in his rookie campaign. Jordan Westburg and Colton Cowser provide additional pop, and Beavers has emerged as a late-season X-factor, batting .277 with three homers and two steals in limited action. Baltimore ranks 21st in runs scored (648) and 23rd in slugging (.399), but they’ve been aggressive on the basepaths—ranking top 10 in stolen bases—and have improved their situational hitting over the past two weeks. If they can string together early contact and force Rodón into long counts, they’ll have a chance to keep this one competitive.

Cade Povich gets the start Thursday, and he’ll need to be sharp against one of the most dangerous lineups in baseball. He enters with a 5.05 ERA and a .276 opponent batting average across 101.2 innings, with command issues and hard contact being persistent challenges. Povich has yet to record a win against the Yankees and has struggled to navigate their right-handed power bats. Baltimore will need him to work ahead in counts and avoid the big inning, especially with New York’s ability to flip games quickly. If Povich can keep the ball in the yard and the bullpen stays sharp, the Orioles could hang around—but they’ll need early run support to avoid falling behind against Fried’s rhythm and control.

New York Yankees vs Baltimore Orioles Pick

Yankees vs Orioles Moneyline Pick

  • NY Yankees -174 (4 Units)

Max Fried gives the Yankees a clear edge on the mound. He enters with a 17–5 record, a 3.03 ERA, and 169 strikeouts over 181.1 innings, having delivered a quality start in four of his last five outings. His command has been elite—just 36 walks all season—and he’s held opponents to a .228 batting average while averaging 8.4 strikeouts per nine. Against a Baltimore lineup that ranks 23rd in slugging and has struggled to generate consistent run production, Fried’s ability to suppress extra-base hits and work deep into games should tilt the tempo in New York’s favor. He’s also backed by a bullpen that ranks seventh in holds and has converted 66.1% of save chances, giving the Yankees a strong late-game cushion.

Offensively, New York is built to capitalize on mismatches like this. They lead MLB in home runs (255), rank first in runs scored (784), and own a top-five OBP at .329. Aaron Judge continues to anchor the lineup with 48 homers and a .326 average, while Cody Bellinger and Trent Grisham add depth and power from both sides of the plate. Cade Povich, meanwhile, enters with a 5.05 ERA and has allowed a .276 opponent average across 101.2 innings. He’s 0–1 in three career starts against the Yankees, including a no-decision earlier this season. With New York’s lineup clicking and Fried in control, this sets up as a strong spot for the Yankees to cover both the moneyline and runline.

Yankees vs Orioles Over/Under Pick

  • Under 9 (5 Units)

Under 9 looks like the right call for Thursday’s Yankees–Orioles matchup, given the pitching setup and offensive tendencies on both sides. Max Fried enters with a 3.03 ERA and has allowed two earned runs or fewer in seven of his last ten starts, consistently working deep into games and limiting hard contact. His command has been elite, and against a Baltimore lineup that ranks bottom-third in slugging and runs scored, he’s well-positioned to control tempo and suppress rallies. On the other side, Cade Povich has struggled overall but tends to pitch better at home, and he’ll face a Yankees lineup that’s explosive but also prone to feast-or-famine stretches. With both bullpens rested and capable of closing clean innings, and with Camden Yards playing neutral to slightly pitcher-friendly in night games, this matchup sets up for a controlled pace where early scoring may stall and late innings stay quiet.
