San Francisco Heats Up
The San Francisco Giants are stuck at the bottom of the NL West standings through their first 14 games, but with it being so early in the season, they clearly have plenty of time to make up ground. They are helping themselves out, as they won each of their last three games coming into Saturday. They won their last two games at home against the Phillies, then opened up this series with another victory.
In Friday's win, Willy Adames homered in the third inning to open up the scoring in the 6-3 win. Adames was batting leadoff as their shortstop, and finished the game with two hits and two RBIs. He is in just his second year with the team after starting his career with the Rays and Brewers. Adames has two home runs on the year while batting .273 at the plate with five RBIs. Matt Chapman bats third as their third basemen, he leads the team with seven RBIs and is batting a strong .315 with one home run so far.
Adrian Houser will make his third start of the season as a 33-year old right hander. He has a 3.97 ERA with seven strikeouts against three walks in his appearances. In his last outing he pitched six innings, but gave up nine hits and four earned runs in a loss to the Phillies.
Orioles Sweep Chicago
The Baltimore Orioles may have fallen on Friday night against the Giants, but that should not halt all their momentum, as they were coming off a three game sweep of the White Sox on the road. They won all three low scoring games, which was much needed for Baltimore as they are in a three way tie for second in the AL East with the Blue Jays and Rays.
Gunnar Henderson had a two run home run in the ninth inning on Friday night, but it was not enough as they still lost by three runs. Henderson had a down year in 2025, as he finished with just 17 home runs after blasting out 37 in the previous year. He seems to be back to his hold form this year, as the shortstop already has five home runs from the top of the lineup to go with 11 RBIs. Taylor Ward was a big addition for Baltimore, he spent the last eight seasons playing for the Angels, and now has 8 RBIs while batting second in the lineup for Baltimore.
Cade Povich will make his second appearance of the season, and it will be his first time starting. The 25-year old left hander did start 20 games for Baltimore last season, but has only made one appearance out of the bullpen in 2026. His one appearance this season came against Pittsburgh, he pitched 5.2 innings allowing four hits and two earned runs in a loss.
Giants vs. Orioles Picks and Predictions
Spread pick for Giants vs. Orioles
- Orioles Moneyline (5 units)
The Orioles will close out this series with a win on Sunday afternoon as they have a strong pitcher on the mound and the top of their lineup has been productive to start the year. Povich has started 20 plus games for the Orioles over the last two seasons, and had a strong showing in his opener this year while allowing just four hits over five plus innings. Houser is on the mound for the Giants, and they have lost in each of his first two starts this season. Houser gave up nine hits in his last start, and Henderson and Ward will jump all over him early.
Take the Orioles to win.
Over/Under Pick for Giants vs. Orioles
- Over (4 units)
These two pitchers have not been elite to start the season, so we will see plenty of runs in this afternoon matchup. Povich is making his first start of the season, as his only appearance so far came out of the bullpen in an 8-2 loss to a Pittsburgh team that does not have a powerful offense. Houser gave up at least six hits in each of his first two starts this season, which both resulted in high scoring losses for San Francisco. Expect a lot of runs here.
Take the over.
