San Francisco Wins Seven of Eight
The San Francisco Giants are hot at the moment, as they have won three straight series, consisting of winning seven of their last eight games. They won their last two games in Milwaukee against the Brewers, then swept the Cubs at home, and won two of three while still in San Fran before heading to the Rocky Mountains. The Giants recently passed the Diamondbacks for third in the division, but are still five games out of the final Wild Card spot in the National League.
The Giants are coming off their series win over the Orioles; all three games went over the total, and San Francisco won Sunday's matchup 13-2. In that game, Justin Verlander threw 121 pitches in five scoreless innings, as the Giants' offense took care of business on their side. Rafael Devers hit a solo homer in the first inning, then an RBI single in the third inning to get the scoring going. He came over in a midseason trade from the Red Sox, and now has 28 home runs and 93 RBIs on the season. Devers has been batting second as their DH. Willy Adames is having a strong year in his first year with the Giants since coming over from Milwaukee, the shortstop bats 3rd with 25 home runs and 72 RBIs.
Logan Webb will make his 29th start of the season as a 28-year-old right-hander. He has a 3.16 ERA to go with 187 strikeouts against 37 walks. His record is 12-9, with the team winning in each of his last three starts. In his last appearance, he gave up three earned runs in seven innings in a win over the Cubs.
Rockies Fall to Cubs
The struggles of the Colorado Rockies have been well documented this season, so winning at least one game against the Cubs may have provided some silver lining. The Rockies are last in the National League by a wide margin, and are currently the only team in Major League Baseball that is eliminated from playoff contention. They were able to pull out a win in their final game against the Cubs on Sunday, powered by Mickey Moniak walk-off triple in the ninth inning.
Moniak came in as a pinch hitter in the game, but has been a regular in their lineup as he has 18 home runs and 55 RBIs on the season. The 27-year old outfielder is in his first season with Colorado after playing with the Angels last season, he is batting 263 at the plate with the Rockies. Hunter Goodman has been their most productive offensive player, the 25-year old catcher leads the team with 26 home runs and 76 RBIs, while batting a respectable .275. Tyler Freeman has been their leadoff hitter recently, the right fielder went 1-3 on Sunday with an RBI and is batting .287 from the top of the order.
Kyle Freeland will make his 26th start of the season as a 32-year old left hander. He has a 3-13 record, with the Rockies losing in each of his last two starts. His ERA is 5.28 with a 97-34 strikeout to walk ratio. In his last outing, Freeland gave up three runs in six innings in a loss to the Astros.
San Francisco Giants Moneyline - 5 units
One of the hottest teams in baseball will take on the worst team in baseball on Tuesday, which will lead to an easy San Francisco win. The Giants have won seven of eight games, with Rafael Devers continuing to supply extra power at the plate for this San Francisco lineup. Devers had the first two RBIs of the game on Sunday, and brings a new dimension that the Giants were lacking. Devers and the rest of the lineup will be facing Colorado's Freeland, who is having trouble finding wins with his 3-13 record. Freeland lost his last two, including a game where he gave up five runs to the Pirates. Webb has been the top pitcher for the Giants this season, leading the team in innings pitched with his strong 3.16 ERA.
Take the Giants to cover the runline.
Over - 4 units
The Giants are coming off a high scoring series, where all three went over the total against the Orioles. San Francisco has now gone over in four of their last five games as their offense continues to pile up runs. They scored double digits in two of the three games against Baltimore, and had a 12-run game in their previous series against the Cubs. These types of outcomes will be easily repeatable against Colorado, as Freeland has a 3-13 record and a 5.28 ERA. Webb just gave up two home runs in his previous start against the Cubs, and Colorado should score just enough to help push this over the total.
Take the over.
