Rangers hope Latz and lineup step up
The Rangers are having a rocky season but their rotation is keeping them in the postseason picture. One of the starters who is having a great season is Jacob Latz, who has allowed only 23 runs in 63 innings pitched while tossing 61 strikeouts. Moreover, with a .397 expected opponent Slugging Percentage, a 7.0 Barrel Percentage, and a 3.89 expected ERA, opponents are making weak contact and struggling to drive in runs against Latz.
Latz has stepped up but the lineup has let the Rangers down this season, scoring only 4.32 runs per game. Corey Seager is slashing .271/.373/.487 with 21 home runs and 185 total bases while Wyatt Langford is slashing .250/.344/.440 with 20 home runs and 190 total bases but the rest of the lineup has struggled. Only four active batters have an OPS+ over 100 and opposing pitchers can eliminate the hapless lineup as a result.
Arizona hopes lineup helps out Crismatt
The Diamondbacks are having a rough season and are turning to some of the prospects at this point with a look towards the future. One of those starters is Nabil Crismatt who has only pitched 14 innings this season. The hope is that he builds off of a few strong starts as he’s allowed only five runs while striking out 11 batters.
Crismatt looks to improve on an impressive start to the season while the lineup looks to build on a strong season as it’s averaging 4.93 runs per game. Ketel Marte is slashing .291/.393/.523 with 23 home runs and 203 total bases while Corbin Carroll is slashing .258/.333/.559 with 29 home runs and 271 total bases but the rest of the lineup has stepped up as well. Geraldo Perdomo is slashing .285/.386/.444 with 15 home runs and 224 total bases while Josh Naylor and Pavin Smith have added 19 home runs and 262 total bases to round out the lineup.
Rangers (-115) (4 Units)
The Rangers are playing great baseball and look to take over this game from the first inning. The Rangers should constantly plate baserunners with Corey Seager, Wyatt Langford, and the rest of the batting order, making contact and putting together strong plate appearances. The Rangers should limit the Diamondbacks lineup with Jacob Latz pitching multiple strong innings to allow the bullpen to close out the game with a lead. The Rangers should win the game with a strong performance on the road.
Take the Rangers money line as road Favorites.
Under 9 (5 Units)
Both starting pitchers are putting together strong seasons and look to take over this game from the first pitch. The Diamondbacks should limit the Rangers lineup with Nabil Crismatt, who has allowed only five runs in 14 innings pitched, pitching multiple strong innings with weak contact off the bat. The Rangers should eliminate the Diamondbacks with Jacob Latz, who has allowed only 23 runs in 63 innings pitched, tossing multiple scoreless innings with minimal contact and a surplus of strikeouts. The Under should cover in a low-scoring game with both starting pitchers stepping up.
Take the Under on 9 runs.
The Rangers face the Diamondbacks with both teams looking to wrap up rough seasons strong.
