The Texas Rangers face the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park in Atlanta on Sunday at 1:35 p.m. ET, with coverage available on MLB.TV. Texas is 49-48 overall and 25-26 away, while Atlanta holds a 56-40 record and a 28-18 mark at home. The Rangers have won three of the last five games but suffered a 15-1 loss to Atlanta in the series opener. The Braves have split the last five contests, with Friday’s one-sided win ending a stretch in which Atlanta had lost two of three. Cash a winning ticket with our free MLB picks.

Rangers Need a Response After a Rough Series Opener

Texas owns a .244 batting average, .319 on-base percentage, and .398 slugging percentage. The Rangers have scored 400 runs with 109 home runs, numbers that sit below Atlanta’s totals in each category. Josh Jung has been the most consistent Texas hitter, batting .294 with a .363 on-base percentage, 100 hits and 45 runs. Jake Burger leads the Rangers with 16 home runs and 58 RBI, while Joc Pederson has added 15 homers despite batting .235. Ezequiel Duran has also provided steady production with a .268 average, 10 home runs and 50 RBI.

The pitching staff enters with a 4.25 ERA and a 1.27 WHIP. Texas pitchers have allowed opponents to bat .244, and the staff has recorded 822 strikeouts against 282 walks. Those numbers give the Rangers a chance to stay close when the offense provides early support, but Friday’s 15-run showing exposed the risk when Texas cannot stop a rally. The Rangers will need more competitive innings on Sunday against a Braves lineup with several hitters carrying strong power numbers.

Injuries: Jakob Junis, relief pitcher, 15-day injured list. Carter Baumler, relief pitcher, 60-day injured list. Nathan Eovaldi, starting pitcher, day-to-day. Jacob deGrom, starting pitcher, day-to-day. Danny Jansen, catcher, 10-day injured list.

Braves Hold the Stronger Numbers at Home

Atlanta is batting .249 with a .315 on-base percentage and a .414 slugging percentage. The Braves have scored 475 runs and hit 124 home runs, giving Atlanta clear advantages over Texas in runs, hits, and homers. Matt Olson leads the lineup with 26 home runs, 59 RBI, 101 hits and a .543 slugging percentage. Michael Harris II is batting .297 with 16 home runs and 56 RBI, while Ozzie Albies has a .270 average, 14 homers, 52 RBI, and 62 runs. Drake Baldwin has also been productive with a .352 on-base percentage, 16 home runs, and 51 RBI.

The Braves have received stronger work from the pitching staff, which carries a 3.58 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP. Atlanta has held opponents to a .227 batting average while recording 811 strikeouts. The Braves also have 28 saves and have allowed fewer hits and runs than Texas. Atlanta’s main concern is Grant Holmes’ walk count, but the full staff has done a better job than Texas at limiting damage across the season.

Injuries: Ha-Seong Kim, shortstop, 10-day injured list. Ronald Acuna Jr., right fielder, 10-day injured list. Martin Perez, starting pitcher, 15-day injured list. Mike Yastrzemski, left fielder, 10-day injured list. Sean Murphy, catcher, 60-day injured list.

Pitching Matchup

Texas Rangers - Undecided

Texas has not announced a starting pitcher for Sunday. Texas has a 4.25 team ERA.

Atlanta Braves - Grant Holmes

The right-hander is 5-4 with a 3.61 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP across 87.1 innings. Holmes has allowed 76 hits and 15 home runs while striking out 76 batters and issuing 39 walks. His walk total can create scoring chances for Texas, but the Rangers’ .244 team average and .398 slugging percentage do not make them an automatic threat to take advantage.

Texas Rangers vs Atlanta Braves Pick

  • Atlanta Braves

Atlanta has the stronger record, the better home mark, and the better season numbers on both sides. The Braves have scored 75 more runs than Texas while hitting 15 more home runs, and Atlanta’s pitching staff owns a much lower ERA. The 15-1 result from Friday should not be treated as the only reason for the pick, but it matches the broader statistical gap between these clubs. Holmes is also a known starter, while Texas has not announced its pitcher. Atlanta is the straight-up pick at home.

Texas Rangers vs Atlanta Braves Over/Under Pick

  • Over

The Rangers scored at least six runs in three of the last five games, and Atlanta has reached double figures in two of its last five contests. Texas enters with a 4.25 team ERA, while the Rangers’ starting pitcher remains undecided. Holmes has allowed 15 home runs and walked 39 batters in 87.1 innings, giving Texas paths to score even after Friday’s poor showing. Atlanta’s lineup has the stronger power numbers and just scored 15 runs against this pitching staff. The matchup will cash over the closing line.
