Rangers trying to end 2025 with a winning record
Texas fell on Saturday to the Guardians 3-2 as they received a pretty strong pitching performance from Jacob Latz, who went 5.1 innings, allowing five hits, two earned runs and struck out six batters. Reliever Robert Garcia gave up the winning run in the ninth inning when he hit C.J. Kayfus with the bases loaded to allow the Guardians to escape with the victory. A bright spot aside from Latz's performance was Adolis Garcia, who hit his 19th homer of the season and drove in his 75th run.
The Rangers will go with veteran left-hander Patrick Corbin, who is 7-11 with a 4.34 ERA this season. Corbin has allowed 21 homers with 126 strikeouts in 151.3 innings. He's gone just 3.2 innings in his last start, allowing two runs and five innings against the Twins in a 4-1 loss on Sept. 23. The previous start, he threw 85 pitches and went 4.1 innings, allowing no earned runs and six hits as Texas edged the Mets 3-2 on Sept. 13. He last faced Cleveland in 2024, holding them to two runs in six innings when he was with Washington.
Cleveland looks to Allen to lead them to the AL Central title
Left-hander Logan Allen has had some strong starts this season and the Guardians will need a good one on Sunday. He's 8-11 with a 4.14 ERA and allowed no runs in his last start at Minnesota in an 8-0 Cleveland win. Allen has also had some rough starts and the last bad start came against Texas on August 23, when he was crushed for nine runs and three dingers as the Rangers beat the Guardians 10-0.

Cleveland's success can be attributed to their pitching, which ranks fourth in ERA with a 3.69. Offensively, they have had their struggles, ranking 28th with 3.94 runs per game and 30th in batting average (.225). The Guardians are the fourth team in history to reach the playoffs in the same year that it had a 10-game losing streak. When September opened up, Cleveland was 10 1/2 games behind Detroit and they can overtake them with a win on Sunday.
Rangers vs. Guardians Pick
Money Line Pick for Texas Rangers vs. Cleveland Guardians
- Texas +122
This is the contrarian pick, but it's also about a tough lefty going for Cleveland, who has done an amazing job of stealing wins, despite not being a strong-hitting team. They needed a hit-by-pitch to win on Saturday, so luck has been a part of their amazing run. A loss here isn't the end of the world, because they'll still be in the playoffs. Texas is not a run-of-the-mill team and they've won four of the last five meetings. Take the Rangers as the slight dog on Sunday.
Over/Under Pick for Rangers vs. Guardians
- Under 7.5
Yesterday's 3-2 score should be similar to Sunday's results. Neither team hits lefties well and Cleveland is hitting just .226 at home. They are hitting .223 at home against southpaws and averaging just 3.6 runs per game. Texas is hitting just .219 against lefties on the road, averaging 3.5 runs per game. Cleveland has gone under in three of their last four games.
