Starting pitcher Parker Messik went five innings and allowed six hits and four runs to take the loss. The Guardians’ offense was held to just five hits on the night.

The Guardians are in a fight both for the division title and a wildcard spot as they start play this weekend. They’ll turn to southpaw Logan Allen in game two of the series to keep both hopes alive.
