Starting for Texas on Friday will be Jacob deGrom, who has posted a 2.67 ERA in his last five starts. He is 11-7 with a 2.78 ERA and 0.93 WHIP on the season. Despite his consistency, run support has been an issue throughout deGrom’s career, and Texas is just 1-6 in his last seven outings.

The Mets have gone from looking like a postseason lock to fighting to hold on. Their six straight losses came on the road, and they now return to Citi Field, where they are 45-27 this season. Leading the offense are stars Pete Alonso (33 HR, 113 RBI) and Juan Soto (39 HR, 95 RBI).
Rookie Jonah Tong will make his third big league start Friday. He is 1-1 with a 4.09 ERA and 1.18 WHIP. The Mets bullpen has struggled recently, posting a 7.31 ERA over the last 10 games.
