Diamondbacks Open Series With Win
The Arizona Diamondbacks will only host the Blue Jays once this season, and were able to pull out a strong victory on Friday night to open the series. Nolan Arenado hit a fourth inning home run to get the scoring started in their 6-3 win. So far on the season, Arizona is third in the NL West, just one game behind the Padres in front of them.
Arenado just hit his third home run of the year for the D-Backs, and has added 11 RBIs to go with his .224 batting average. Their top offensive player has been Ketel Marte, he is a multiple time All-Star and leads the squad with four home runs to go with his nine RBIs from the top of the lineup. Corbin Carroll has added another two home runs and 12 RBIs and typically bats second in the lineup as their right fielder.
Ryne Nelson will make his fifth start of the season as a 28-year old right hander. He has a 1-1 record to pair with his 3.54 ERA, while adding 19 strikeouts against eight walks. In his last start, Nelson pitched 5.1 innings against the Orioles, giving up just one earned run in the loss.
