The Toronto Blue Jays (28-29, 28-29 ATS, 27-29-1 O/U) take on the Baltimore Orioles (26-31, 26-31 ATS, 32-24-1 O/U) in the second of a three-game series on Saturday evening, and we have you covered with the prediction. The Blue Jays are going with Trey Yesavage on the rubber. The Orioles are answering with Brandon Young. The Blue Jays lead the season series 1-0 entering Friday.

Can Yesavage rebound after his worst outing of the season? Continue reading to view the Blue Jays vs. Orioles prediction. Do you need a boost in your handicapping? Try our  MLB Picks!

Yesavage Eyes Third Win of Season

Trey Yesavage will get the nod in this one. Yesavage is hoping to rebound after this worst outing of the season. He surrendered five runs in five innings against the Marlins and was pelted with the loss. The rookie missed the first month due to injury and has been dominant in all but one start. He has conceded two or fewer runs in five of his six starts and has delivered a 2.25 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP accompanied by a 2-2 record in 32 innings pitched. This is his first meeting against Baltimore.

The Toronto Blue Jays are inching closer towards the .500 mark. It was a tough first month of the season, but the experienced group is finding its footing. They have won three straight series and are in a wildcard spot. Toronto won two of three against the Pirates last weekend and had more success on the mound in a series win against the Marlins this week, outscoring them by a 12-4 margin. They stand at 11-16 on the road.

Ernie Clement has reported a solid .788 OPS in May. The 30-year-old second baseman is having a decent year, posting 20 RBIs and a .763 OPS on the season. George Springer has not been able to click at the plate. The 36-year-old star has a .630 OPS in May and 15 RBIs and a .656 OPS on the season.

Jesus Sanchez has been a positive, sporting an .850 OPS this month. The 28-year-old outfielder has knocked in 27 runs with a .779 OPS. Kazuma Okamoto has been quiet, yielding two RBIs in his past 10 games. The third baseman has smashed 11 homers with 29 RBIs. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. netted a .955 OPS against the Orioles last season. The star first baseman has not displayed power and has yet to find his groove, clubbing three homers with 22 RBIs and a .760 OPS.

Toronto is averaging 4.00 runs per game, ranking them 22nd. The Blue Jays have a 3.73 ERA, placing them seventh.

Young Posts Best Start of Season

Brandon Young will be on the mound on Saturday. Young was tremendous in his recent outing, conceding two runs (zero earned) in 6.2 innings of action against the Tigers, leading to another no-decision in a bout the Orioles won. The young righty was shaky in April but has been steady in May and is sporting a 3.47 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP, accompanied by a 3-1 record in 36.1 innings pitched on the season. Young has made one career outing against Toronto and was effective, conceding two runs in six innings in a game the Orioles won.

The Baltimore Orioles are targeting the .500 mark. They have big expectations this season, but have been plagued by inconsistent pitching. They are trending upwards, winning two of three meetings against the Tigers, followed by a dominant home sweep of a potent Rays team this week. They scored 26 runs and kept Tampa Bay to only 12 runs. The Orioles are 17-15 at home.

Gunnar Henderson has recorded five RBIs in his past six games. The 24-year-old shortstop has a .626 OPS in May and 29 RBIs and a .702 OPS on the season. Coby Mayo has been inconsistent. The 24-year-old third baseman has potential. He only has 19 RBIs and a .644 OPS.

Taylor Ward is slumping at the dish, amassing five RBIs and a disastrous .600 OPS this month. The veteran slugger has two homers with 16 RBIs and a .760 OPS on the season. Jeremiah Jackson had a strong April but has issued a .501 OPS this month. The young second baseman has 26 RBIs. Pete Alonso is having an inconsistent season. The star slugger signed with Baltimore in the offseason and has smashed 10 homers with 33 RBIs and a .740 OPS. He posted three RBIs against a 1.01 OPS against the Jays last season.

Baltimore is posting an average of 4.47 runs on the season, rating them 11th. The Orioles have managed a 4.63 ERA, pegging them 25th in the big leagues.

Blue Jays vs. Orioles Pick

Spread Pick for Blue Jays vs. Orioles

  • Toronto Blue Jays -130 (5 units)

The Toronto Blue Jays are enjoying their best stretch of the season. They have won three straight series and seven of their past ten games entering Friday. The Jays have also won three straight road clashes. The Baltimore Orioles have been hit or miss this season and are only three games above .500 at home.

Furthermore, Blue Jays pitcher Trey Yesavage has been tough to solve in five of his six outings this season. He has held his opponent to either one or zero runs in four of his six outings. Orioles starter Brandon Young is not a proven pitcher. He has a 5.17 career ERA. He is not pitching deep into games, lasting 5.2 or fewer innings in all but two starts, and the Orioles bullpen has a 4.56 ERA.

Over/Under Pick for Blue Jays vs. Orioles

  • Over 8 (5 units)

I expect plenty of scoring. Toronto will score runs against Young. As mentioned, he has a 5.17 ERA in a big sample size of almost 100 innings in his MLB career. While he has a 3.25 ERA this season, his advanced stats are subpar. Young has recorded an xERA of 4.26 and a FIP of 4.75 this season.

In addition, Baltimore has no issues producing offense. They are piling on the offense, averaging five runs per game in their past 10 games. They have also amassed 33 runs in their past six home games.
