Toronto Wins Four Straight

The Toronto Blue Jays have positive momentum heading into the weekend, as they won their last two games at home against the Marlins, and took the first two of this series on the road. They are sitting at .500 on the season, third in the AL East as they trail the division leading Rays by 8 games, and the Yankees in second by 6.5. Each of their first two games in this set were tight, pulling out one run victories in each.

In Friday's game, the Blue Jays trailed 5-0 into the seventh inning, but were able to put up six unanswered runs to close out the game with a victory. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. helped power the way to victory, as he finished the game with two hits and two RBIs. On the season, Guerrero has 24 RBIs, but has not shown much power as he has just three home runs on the season. Vlad does lead the team with a .293 batting average, still finding ways to contribute. Their top power hitter has been Kazuma Okamoto, the third baseman has 12 home runs and 31 RBIs, leading the team in both categories.

The Blue Jays have yet to name their starter here, but we know it will not be Yesavage, Gausman or Corbin as they are all scheduled before or after this game. This means it could be a bullpen game for Toronto. As a team, Toronto in 9th in the MLB in ERA at 3.75, and are 4th in overall strikeouts with 525.

Orioles Fresh off Strong Sweep

The Baltimore Orioles lost the first two games of this set, and that is likely due to their winning getting to their head, as they just took down the mighty Rays in three straight games. The sweep of Tampa Bay was much needed, as the Orioles sit in fourth in the division, 11 games behind Tampa in the lead. They are looking up at Toronto, who are only three games ahead of them, so they want to be able to finish this series strong.

Baltimore blew their five run lead on Friday, Pete Alonso homered in that game in his first season with Baltimore after an excellent career with the Mets. Alonso is now a 31 year old, but still has plenty of power as he has 11 home runs and 34 RBIs while typically batting fourth in the lineup. Gunnar Henderson is their up and coming star at shortstop, he leads the team with 13 home runs and has added another 29 RBIs from the second spot in the order.

Kyle Bradish will make his 12th start of the season as a 29-year old right hander. He has a 2-6 record to go with his 3.86 ERA. He has 61 strikeouts against 30 walks. In his last start, Bradish gave up one run in six innings in a win over Tampa Bay.

Blue Jays vs. Orioles Picks and Predictions

Moneyline pick for Blue Jays vs. Orioles

  •   Orioles (4 units)

Baltimore suffered close losses in each of the first two games in this series, but will grab a win in the closing game as Toronto is likely going to be going with a bullpen game. Toronto will not have any of their top three aces on the mound, and will be searching for a pitchers in the pen to get the job done here. This is not a recipe for success against this Baltimore team that just swept the first place Rays. The Orioles are healthy, and both Henderson and Alonso have been productive lately. Bradish only gave up one run last time out against Tampa, and will do enough to help secure the win here.

Take Baltimore.

Over/Under Pick for Blue Jays vs. Orioles

  •   Over (4 units)

One team is going with a bullpen game, while the only sends out a pitcher with an ERA over 3.80, this will be an over. Toronto has been solid on the mound so far, but most of that is due to their three healthy starters in Yesavage, Gausman and Corbin. None of those three are available here, leaving them with their fourth best starter, and a bullpen needed to pitch heavy innings. Bradish has given up home runs in each of his last two starts, and the Jays should be able to generate offense off of him, as his strikeout to walk ratio is barely above 2:1. Expect runs here.

Take the over.
