76ers vs. Nets Pick and Preview
Spread Pick for 76ers vs. Nets
- Nets +6 (4 Units)
How healthy will the Sixers be for Friday's game? That likely won't be answered until close to game time, which is why I lean towards the Nets' side against the spread. This isn't a large number, so Brooklyn will have to actually compete to cover, but that doesn't deter me. The 76ers are coming off a terrible loss, which is putting it kindly. The Magic exploded for 51 points in the second quarter alone and followed it up with 35 more in the third. That's a tough pill to swallow, and it should have Brooklyn feeling comfortable enough to keep the score close at home.
The Nets aren't anyone's favorite team to back, but they've been solid ATS recently, and after a few days off and a holiday, they should have enough fight in them to cover.
Over/Under Pick for 76ers vs. Nets
- Over 228.5 (4 Units)
This total is too low, even for a matchup between slower-tempo teams. The 76ers' defense was porous in their last game, and I'm not sure how much has changed since then. The Nets won't wow anyone with their shooting, but they can put points on the scoreboard when they're confident and able to force their way to the foul line (7th in FT attempt rate). I also expect the visitors to put up a fight after an ugly loss against a bottom-five Brooklyn defense ranked 28th in opponent eFG%. The Sixers should shoot the ball well enough from three-point range to keep this game entertaining and push the total over 228 points.
