Atlanta Reshapes Their Lineup
The Atlanta Hawks traded away Trae Young far before the trade deadline, but are still dealing with roster turnover as they try to battle for a spot in the Eastern Conference Playoffs. Young is gone, as well as Kristaps Porzingis and Luke Kennard. The Hawks added Jonathan Kuminga, Buddy Hield, Gabe Vincent, CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert over the deals. Atlanta is still trying to figure out how their new lineups will work, as they are currently 9th place in the Eastern Conference.
Kuminga will not play here, as he will be re-evaluated after the All-Star Break, and both Jalen Johnson and Dyson Daniels are listed as game time decisions with injuries. Johnson and Daniels have been important pieces to their rotation all season, but neither plyed against Minnesota, further complicating their lineup management. Their top scorer that will definitely be available is Nickeil Alexander-Walker, as the 27-year old guard is having a career year with 20.3 PPG as a starting guard. CJ McCollum has been playing heavy minutes for Atlanta since coming over, he scored 38 points in their loss against Minnesota after averaging 18.8 PPG on the year.
Onyeka Okongwu starts inside while getting 16.2 PPG, with Zaccharie Risacher adding 10.7 PPG. Atlanta is ranked 14th in offensive efficiency and 22nd in defensive efficiency according to dunksandthrees.com. The Hawks play at a fast pace, ranking 4th in the league in possessions per game.

Hornets Snap Nine Game Win Streak
The Charlotte Hornets were quietly one of the hottest teams in the NBA, as they had won nine straight games before finally losing to Detroit. Falling to the number one team in the East is nothing to be embarrassed about as Charlotte is trying to power their young core into a playoff spot. The Hornets are currently ranked 10th in the East, just one game over the Bulls who sit in 11th. In their last game, the Hornets were led by Brandon Miller with 24 points in their loss to the Pistons.
Miller is continuing to improve his game, and is now Charlotte's leading scorer with 20.4 PPG as a 6'7 forward. The 23-year old can handle the ball and is also contributing 4.6 RPG and 3.3 APG. LaMelo Ball is still the most popular player on the Hornets, the electric guard is averaging 19.2 PPG and a team high 7.4 APG. Ball is making 3.4 threes per game, tied with rookie Kon Knueppel for the top mark on the team. Knueppel has shown real promise as a rookie, the 20-year old out of Duke is scoring 18.9 PPG.
Miles Bridges is an athletic forward getting 18.2 PPG, with Moussa Diabate adding 8.2 RPG and 8.6 RPG as their starting center. Charlotte is ranked 5th in offensive efficiency and 19th in defensive efficiency. They play slower than the Hawks, ranking 21st in the league in pace of play.

Hawks vs. Hornets Picks and Predictions
Spread pick for Hawks vs. Hornets
- Hornets to cover (5 units)
The Charlotte Hornets are one of the best kept secrets in the NBA, as they have won nine of their last ten games and giving heavy minutes to their young stars as they continue to gain chemistry. The combination of Ball-Miller-Knueppel-Bridges has been excellent for the Hornets, as when all four of those players are healthy they start to look like a playoff team that can get hot from the outside at any moment. Atlanta is all over the place, they traded Young, Johnson and Daniels are injured, and they are hoping CJ McCollum can carry this offense, which is too much to ask. Take the young Hornets to keep their positive momentum going.
Take the Hornets to cover.
Over/Under Pick for Hawks vs. Hornets
- Under (4 units)
The Hornets play slower than the Hawks, and will be able to control the tempo of this game as all of their top four stars are healthy. The Hornets share the ball, with their top four all scoring between 18-22 PPG, creating an unselfish chemistry. The Hornets look for the best shot for any of their shooters, and are willing to go deep into their possessions to get it done. Atlanta plays faster, but all of their top weapons are out. Johnson might play here for Atlanta, but is still bothered by a knee injury. There will not be enough points scored here.
Take the under.
