Atlanta Hawks (8-5) vs. Phoenix Suns (8-5)

The 2025-26 NBA betting action goes on Sunday, November 16, when a couple of 8-5 teams lock horns at Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix, AZ, so we have prepared the Hawks vs. Suns prediction to get you covered.

Atlanta meets Phoenix for the first time this season. They split a two-game set in 2024-25, with each team grabbing a win at home. The Suns beat the Hawks 123-115, and Atlanta responded with a 122-117 victory.

Let’s take a look at this Hawks vs. Suns prediction, one of our NBA picks for Sunday’s eight-game slate. The tip-off at Mortgage Matchup Center is set at 8:00 PM ET.

The Hawks shoot for their fifth straight W

The Atlanta Hawks (7-6 ATS; 6-7 O/U) will close down their four-game road trip on Sunday night and search for their fifth win on the spin. After a 122-102 thrashing of the Los Angeles Lakers at home, the Hawks have won three straight road tilts over the LA Clippers 105-102, the Sacramento Kings 133-100, and the Utah Jazz 132-122.

Atlanta’s offense has been unstoppable over the last two games. The Hawks made 57.6% of their field goals (17-for-40 from deep) against the Kings while handing out a whopping 42 assists. Against the Jazz, the Hawks shot 51.1% from the field (24-for-47 from deep) and dished out 36 assists.

Jalen Johnson continues to impress in his fifth NBA season. Last Thursday, Johnson tortured Utah for 31 points, 18 rebounds, 14 assists, and seven steals. Kristaps Porzingis (rest) sat out the Jazz game, but he should be ready to play against the Suns. Trae Young (17.8 PPG, 7.8 APG) is still recovering from a knee injury.

The Hawks are now topping the Southeast Division. They score 115.0 points per 100 possessions (19th in the NBA) and allow 111.4 points in return (5th). Atlanta is fifth in the league in both defensive turnover percentage (14.7%) and opposing 3-point percentage (33.8%).

Key Injury Report for Hawks:

  • G Trae Young (knee) is out for 3-4 weeks

The Suns are hot, too

The Phoenix Suns (9-4 ATS; 6-7 O/U) have only lost one of their previous eight games overall and are undefeated in five straight outings. Their defense has been outstanding during that winning streak, yielding just 103.0 points a night.

The Suns are coming off Thursday’s 133-98 dismantling of the lowly Indiana Pacers. Phoenix allowed just seven 3-pointers while making 57.6% of its field goals (13-for-35 from downtown). Devin Booker led the way with 33 points and seven assists, and Dillon Brooks added 32 points.

Booker is having a great season, averaging 28.5 points on 50.0% shooting from the field. Grayson Allen (18.5 PPG) suffered a quad injury against the Pacers and is questionable for Sunday’s game against Atlanta, while Jalen Green (15.5 PPG) is out with a hamstring injury.

The Suns are second in the Pacific Division. They score 119.0 points per 100 possessions (6th in the NBA) and surrender 114.1 points in return (11th). Phoenix ranks eighth in the league in opposing 3-point percentage (34.9%) and seventh in defensive turnover percentage (14.4%).

Key Injuries for Suns:

  • G Grayson Allen (quad) is out. Averages 18.5ppg
  • G Jalen Green (hamstring) is out. Averages 15.5ppg

Hawks vs. Suns Pick

Spread Pick for Hawks vs. Suns

  • Atlanta Hawks (4 units)

I like what I see from this Atlanta team. The Hawks are sharing the ball while playing sturdy defense. The Suns might miss Grayson Allen, who’s a huge part of their offense, and I think the Hawks will cover the spread.

Phoenix is 6-1 SU and 7-0 ATS at home this season, while Atlanta is 6-2 SU and 5-3 ATS on the road. The Suns lean on 3-pointers. They are fifth in the NBA in 3-point percentage (38.5%) and sixth in 3-point rate (.466). However, the Hawks have done a great job defending the 3-point line this season.

Atlanta makes 37.0% of its shots from deep (tied for 13th). The Hawks will continue to attack the paint and look for open shots. They are third in the league in assists per game (30.1).

Over/Under Pick for Hawks vs. Suns

  • Under (4 units)

The Hawks are ninth in the NBA in pace (101.8 possessions per 48 minutes), whereas the Suns rank 25th in this category (98.8). Phoenix will look to slow things down a bit in this matchup. The Suns need to take good care of the ball because the Hawks are lethal in transition.

Both teams have been playing excellent defense lately, so I’m going with the under on the total. Five of the Suns’ last six games overall and three of the Hawks’ previous five have gone under.
