Nets vs. Bulls prediction

We have an Eastern Conference showdown on Wednesday in this Nets vs. Bulls prediction. Brooklyn (4-16) is coming off a rare win on Monday against Charlotte (116-103), while the Bulls (9-11) have lost four straight, including a 125-120 defeat at Orlando on Monday night. These teams last met in March of last season, with the Bulls winning 116-110. Chicago took two of three games SU and ATS last season in this series. Chicago is a 9.5-point favorite and the total is 233.5. Continue reading for more on the side and total, and check out more free NBA Picks on Winners and Whiners.

Nets halt streak against Hornets

Brooklyn was a 4.5-point underdog on Monday against Charlotte, but found a way to upset the Hornets thanks to 35 points from Michael Porter Jr. The Nets shot 45% from the field and 40% (17 of 43) from three-point land. They also forced 16 turnovers from Charlotte, who did not have a player score over 18 points. The Nets held leading scorer Miles Bridge (21.7ppg) to just eight points on 4-of-15 shooting.

Despite the win on Monday, it's been a disastrous start for the Nets, who lost four straight before that win. The Nets have plenty of young players who they are waiting on to develop. That includes rookie Egor Demin, who is averaging 8.6 points and 3.6 assists, but is shooting just 37.7% from the field (34.7% 3pt). The same can be said for rookie 6-11 forward Danny Wolf (6.5ppg, 3rpg, 43% 3ppt), who has played in just six games and rookie guard Ben Saraf (4.4ppg, 2.9apg, 29.5% FG). The rookie who has shown the most potential is North Carolina guard Drake Powell, who is averaging 6.6 points and is shooting 50% from the field in 19.5mpg.

Porter Jr. is the leading scorer (24.9ppg) and second-leading rebounder (7.4), while shooting 49% from the field and 38.2 from three-point range. Cam Thomas adds 21.4 points per game, but has played just eight games and is out indefinitely due to a hamstring injury.

Key Injuries for Nets:

  • G Cam Thomas (hamstring) is out indefinitely. Second leading scorer.
  • G Tre Mann (ribs) is day-to-day. Avg. 8.7ppg and 3.6apg.

Bulls struggle on the road

Chicago is 6-2 at home this season, but just 3-9 on the road. In their last road trip, they fell in all four, including three bad teams (New Orleans, Charlotte and Indiana, where they were favored). They were 9.5-point underdogs and covered on Monday, but lost at Orlando 125-120. In that defeat, they allowed the Magic to score 40 points in the fourth quarter. Josh Giddey led the way with 22 points, nine rebounds and six assists, but also turned the ball over eight times. Athletic second-year wing Matas Buzelis added 21 points, six rebounds, four assists and three blocks.

The Bulls rank 22nd overall in Net Ratings on DunksandThrees.com, while ranking 21st in Adjusted Offense and 22nd in Adjusted Defense. Buzelis has been like this team, inconsistent. He averages 13.6 points and 5.6 rebounds, while shooting 45.4% from the field and 34.4% from long range. Coby White (5 games) leads team tam in scoring with 24.2 points and adds 6.2 assists, while Giddey contributes 20.6 points, 9.9 rebounds and 9.1 assists on 47.4% shooting (40% 3pt). White missed Monday's game against the Magic with a calf injury and also had an illness.

Defense has been an issue for the Bulls this season as they are allowing 123.2 points per game (28th) and 47.1% shooting (16th).

Spread Pick for Nets vs. Bulls

Nets vs. Bulls Pick and Score Prediction

  • Chicago 115-Brooklyn 110
  • Brooklyn Nets +9.5 (5 units)

The Bulls have some talent on the roster, but many of those players are on the injured list. As bad as the Nets are overall, they have covered four of their last five games on the road and five of their last nine overall. Chicago has covered just six of their last seven games. This is an inconsistent team that struggles on the defensive end and the Nets have some scorers like by MPJ and forward Noah Clowney, who had 18 points on Monday against Charlotte.

Total Pick for Nets vs. Bulls

  • Under 233.5  (4 units)

Without Cam Thomas, the Nets are not going to outscore a lot of teams. The Nets do not push the ball as they rank just 29th in tempo. They've gone under in seven straight games. and the last two against Chicago, along with 13 of the last 17 in this series.
