The Detroit Pistons were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs a season ago and have made tremendous strides for head coach J.B. Bickerstaff. The Pistons have not won a playoff series since 2008, but their hungry fan base is likely to see that change this postseason. Detroit currently ranks second in defensive efficiency by Hollinger's NBA Team Statistics and are limiting opponents to a shade below 110 points per contest. The Pistons have won 23 of their first 30 home games and hold a 4.5 game lead over Boston for the top spot in the Eastern Conference. On Thursday, Detroit shot 40 percent from the field during a 121-106 road loss against San Antonio.

All-Star G Cade Cunningham is getting consideration for the best American born player in the league and ranks 12th in scoring at 25.2 points per game. Cunningham is second to Nikola Jokic in assists (9.8 apg) and pulls down 5.8 rebounds per night. Jalen Duren controls the interior for the Pistons with 18.4 points and 10.7 rebounds on average. Duncan Robinson is a key floor spacer for Detroit and averages 12 points.
