Rockets Trying to Earn First Win of Season

Houston was knocked off by the Pistons at home in their previous contest, leaving them in search of their first win of the season here. Against Detroit, Houston led by one after the opening quarter, trailed by seven at the half, cut the deficit to one after three quarters and stood tied at 105 with 4:36 remaining before giving up the next six points. The Rockets never got even again as they went down in defeat. Houston shot 38.6% from the field, including 10 of 22 from three-point range, and was beaten 48-45 on the glass in the game. Kevin Durant led the Rockets with 37 points in the loss.

Nets vs. Rockets Pick

Nets vs. Rockets Spread Pick

  • Rockets -15 (4 units)

Brooklyn has been brutal on the defensive end of the floor this season so far, and itโ€™s telling when allowing 118 points is your best defensive showing in the early going. While Houston has dropped two straight to start the season but the fact remains that they pushed Oklahoma City to double overtime in the opener before falling by four to the Pistons. Houston is at home here, and they have a two-day rest advantage entering this contest as the Nets are playing the second game of a back-to-back situation. Durant has been a leader in the first two games, and he delivers another stellar showing here to help Houston pick up their first win of the season.

Nets vs. Rockets Over/Under Pick

  • Over (5 units)

Brooklyn has gone over the number in two of their three games this season. The Nets have an average total of 244.3 ppg in their three contests on the year. Brooklyn has struggled to slow opposing teams so far, giving up 136 points to a Charlotte team that was last in the league in scoring offense last season, 131 points against Cleveland and 118 against San Antonio. Houston split their first two games in relation to the total this season. The Rockets should take advantage of a leaky Brooklyn team, especially playing the second game of a back-to-back situation here. Look for Houston to light up the scoreboard and push this game over the total.
