Brooklyn Nets (12-33) vs. Utah Jazz (15-33)

The 2025-26 NBA betting action goes on Friday, January 30, with the nine-game card, including a cross-conference showdown at Delta Center in Salt Lake City, UT, so we’ve prepared the Nets vs. Jazz prediction to get you covered.

Brooklyn and Utah wrap up their two-game regular-season series, and the Jazz eye their fourth straight victory over the Nets. Back in December, Utah beat Brooklyn 123-110 as a 5-point road favorite, and the game went over the 231.5-point line.

The Nets play without rest

Thursday’s games have been excluded from this preview, and the Brooklyn Nets visited the Denver Nuggets, looking to snap their six-game skid. The hapless Nets have only won one of their previous 12 games overall while going 6-6 against the spread.

During their six-game losing streak, the Nets have been allowing a whopping 126.9 points per 100 possessions while scoring just 104.3 points in return. Last Sunday, the Nets started their five-game road trip with a 126-89 defeat at the LA Clippers. Two days later, they lost at the Phoenix Suns 106-102.

The Nets nearly broke out of their funk last Tuesday. Michael Porter Jr. dropped 36 points on the Suns, but the Nets were scoreless in the final 1:39 of the fourth quarter. Brooklyn shot 50.7% from the field (13-for-32 from deep) while posting a 28/22 assist-to-turnover ratio.

Four players were sidelined on Thursday night, including Cam Thomas (15.9 PPG, 3.1 APG) and Noah Clowney (13.1 PPG, 4.3 RPG). Thomas is nursing a hamstring injury, and he should be back for Friday’s clash against Utah. Clowney missed three straight games with a back injury.

The Jazz hope to snap their four-game skid

The Utah Jazz have struggled a lot, too, going 1-8 SU and 3-6 ATS in their last nine games overall. They are winless in four straight outings (0-4 ATS), losing at home against the San Antonio Spurs 126-109, the Miami Heat 147-116, the LA Clippers 115-103, and the Golden State Warriors 140-124.

Last Wednesday, the Jazz forced the Warriors into 20 turnovers. However, Utah allowed 23 3-pointers and 30 free throws, as the Warriors scored 25 points from the foul line. The Jazz shot 48.9% from the field (15-for-38 from deep), and Brice Sensabaugh led the way with 22 points.

Utah can count on all of its important players, besides Walker Kessler (14.4 PPG, 10.8 RPG), who’s done for the season with a shoulder injury. Lauri Markkanen averages 27.4 points and 7.0 rebounds, while Keyonte George tallies 24.1 points and 6.6 assists per game.

The Jazz can score, but their defense has been an absolute disaster this season. Utah is 17th in the NBA in adjusted offensive efficiency (115.1 points per 100 possessions) and 30th in adjusted defensive efficiency (123.9).

Nets vs. Jazz Pick

Spread Pick for Nets vs. Jazz

  • Utah Jazz (4 units)

This is the clash between a couple of lousy teams, and it could easily go either way. Both Brooklyn and Utah have been awful lately. I’m going with the Jazz only because they have a rest advantage over the Nets. Also, Utah is arguably a better offensive team than Brooklyn, though Utah’s defense is hideous.

Yet, the Nets’ defense has struggled a lot over the last couple of weeks. Brooklyn has allowed at least 120 points in five of its previous six outings. The Nets are dead last in the NBA in opposing 3-point percentage (38.1%), and the Jazz make 35.1% of their shots from deep (tied for 18th).

Over/Under Pick for Nets vs. Jazz

  • Over (4 units)

The Nets’ 3-point defense is bad, and Utah’s 3-point defense might be even worse. The Jazz are 29th in the league in opposing 3-point percentage (37.9%), and no team allows more 3-pointers per 100 possessions than Utah (15.5).

Brooklyn is second in the NBA in 3-point rate (.478), but the Nets make just 34.4% of their shots from beyond the arc (24th). The Nets play at the fourth-slowest pace in the league, notching 96.3 possessions per 48 minutes, whereas Utah registers 101.8 possessions per 48 minutes (tied for 3rd).

I expect the Jazz to speed things up and force the Nets to run up and down the floor as much as possible. The over is 6-3 in Utah’s last nine games overall. I would ride this betting trend.
