The 2025 Emirates NBA Cup continues Friday, November 7, with 11 games around the Association, including the Group C showdown at Kaseya Center in Miami, FL, so we have prepared the Hornets vs. Heat prediction to get you covered.
Both teams enter the NBA Cup action on Friday night, as they meet for the second time this season. Last week, the Heat trounced the Hornets 144-117 as 4.5-point home favorites, and the game flew over the 239.5-point line. Miami is a 5-point home fave with a total of 242.5 points this time around. The tip-off is set at 8:00 PM ET.
The Hornets have only won one of their previous nine encounters with the Heat. Will Miami extend its dominance over Charlotte? Read more about this Hornets vs. Heat prediction, and check out all our NBA picks for a loaded Friday card.
The Hornets desperately need LaMelo Ball back
The Charlotte Hornets (3-5; 4-4 ATS; 4-4 O/U) have gone 1-4 SU and ATS over their last five outings. After snapping a three-game skid with a 126-103 thrashing of the Utah Jazz, the Hornets suffered a 116-112 defeat at the New Orleans Pelicans this past Tuesday.

It was the Pelicans’ first win of the season, and the Hornets managed to blow a late seven-point lead. Charlotte was up 112-105 with 2:55 left to play in the fourth quarter. The Hornets finished the game with 20 turnovers while shooting 47.6% from the field (13-for-38 from deep).
Miles Bridges scored 22 points against the Pels, while rookie Kon Knueppel posted a double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds. Fellow rookie Ryan Kalkbrenner double-doubled with 10 points and 11 rebounds, and Tre Mann added 18 points off the bench.
LaMelo Ball (23.3 PPG, 9.8 APG) missed his second straight contest due to an ankle injury and is questionable for Friday’s clash against the Heat. Should Ball remain on the shelf, Collin Sexton (16.1 PPG, 5.3 APG) will continue to drive the Hornets’ offense. Brandon Miller (14.5 PPG) is still recovering from a shoulder injury.
The Heat are without Bam Adebayo
The Miami Heat (4-4; 5-3 ATS; 5-3 O/U) just finished their four-game road trip with a 1-3 SU and ATS record. After consecutive defeats at the San Antonio Spurs 107-101 and the Los Angeles Lakers 130-120 and a 120-119 victory over the LA Clippers, the Heat suffered a 122-112 loss at the Denver Nuggets this past Wednesday.
Bam Adebayo (19.9 PPG, 8.1 RPG) exited the Nuggets game in the first quarter, as he suffered a toe injury. Without Adebayo, the Heat couldn’t cope with the Nuggets, who outrebounded Miami 61-38 on the night. Denver posted a whopping 21 offensive rebounds and outscored the Heat 62-42 in the paint.
Miami made 44.2% of its field goals last Wednesday. The Heat went 14-for-41 from downtown and 22-for-25 from the foul line. Norman Powell led the way with 23 points, Andrew Wiggins had 22 points and five assists, and Jaime Jaquez Jr. added 21 points off the bench.
Adebayo won’t play against the Hornets on Friday. Kel’el Ware (10.1 PPG, 7.4 RPG) will replace Adebayo in the starting lineup, and Ware posted a line of 13 points, 13 rebounds, and four steals against Denver. Tyler Herro is still recovering from a foot injury and won’t return anytime soon.
Hornets vs. Heat Pick
Spread Pick for Hornets vs. Heat
- Miami Heat -5.0 (5 units)
Bam Adebayo’s absence is a huge blow for the Heat, but I’m still going with Miami in this game. The Heat are arguably a better defensive team than Charlotte, and the Hornets might be without LaMelo Ball for the third straight game.
Despite Adebayo’s injury, the Heat played solid defense against the Nuggets. Miami ranks seventh in the league in adjusted defensive efficiency (111.7 points allowed per 100 possessions), while Charlotte is 26th in this category (119.2).
Last week, the Heat forced the Hornets into 18 turnovers and held Ball to 20 points. Jaime Jaquez Jr. tortured the Hornets for 28 points and five assists off the bench.
Over/Under Pick for Hornets vs. Heat
- Under 242.5 (5 units)
These two teams provided a firecracker last week. The Heat play at the fastest pace in the NBA this season, tallying 105.3 possessions per 48 minutes, while the Hornets register 101.0 possessions per 48 minutes (14th in the league).
However, Bam Adebayo’s absence will limit Miami’s offense, and I expect the Heat to lean on their defense in this game. Should LaMelo Ball remain on the sidelines, this game will go under the total.
The under is 4-1 in the Hornets’ last five games overall, and it is 5-2 in the previous seven encounters between Charlotte and Miami.
