Clippers' Harden was a one-man wrecking crew on Friday

Los Angeles (4-8 SU, 2-10 ATS, and 7-5 O/U) beat Dallas 133-127 in double overtime on Friday. The Clippers snapped a six-game losing streak by scoring 58 points in the paint and 30 at the foul line. SG James Harden led the way with his 82nd career triple-double, finishing with season highs of 41 points and 14 rebounds, along with 11 dimes. Bogdan Bogdanovic was also a key contributor off the bench (21 points), knocking down five threes and recording four steals.

With G Kawhi Leonard injured (foot sprain/ankle sprain), Harden is LA's top scoring option. The Arizona State product is averaging 23.4 points, with 8.9 assists and 5.5 rebounds per game. A few other Clippers to watch against the Celtics are C Ivica Zubac (15.2 PPG and 10.5 RPG), F John Collins (11.9 PPG and 5.0 RPG), and F Derrick Jones Jr. (10.5 PPG). Los Angeles scores 109.6 points per game (26th) on 48.0 percent shooting (11th), while its opponents average 115.5 points (13th) on 47.5 percent shooting (17th).

The Clippers went 50-32 last season, finishing 5th in the West. They went on an 18-3 run before the playoffs, but couldn't sustain their momentum, losing in the first round. Beal was among the team's biggest offseason additions, but the 32-year-old will be out for the remainder of the season after undergoing hip surgery earlier this week. LA also traded for Collins and signed G Chris Paul and C Brook Lopez to bolster their depth around Leonard and Harden. The result is a team loaded with veterans, but will they be on the court enough to make the Clippers a serious contender?

Los Angeles Clippers Basketball Injury Report:Β

  • G Kawhi Leonard (foot) is out
  • G Bradley Beal (hip) was recently ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Celtics are well-rested and coming off a dominant win

Boston (6-7 SU, 5-8 ATS, and 5-8 O/U) defeated Memphis 131-95 on Wednesday. The Celtics shot 51 percent from the floor, including 41 percent from three. They dominated on the boards, outrebounding the Grizzlies 58-41, and scored 44 points in the paint. The Celtics led by as many as 38 and never trailed.

G Jaylen Brown leads Boston in scoring, averaging 27.0 points with 5.1 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. A few other C's to watch on Sunday against the Clippers are G Derrick White (15.5 PPG and 5.2 APG), G Payton Pritchard (15.3 PPG and 5.2 APG), and C Neemias Queta (8.9 PPG and 8.1 RPG). Boston scores 113.2 points per game (24th) on 44.9 percent shooting (24th), while their opponents average 108.6 points (2nd) on 43.3 percent shooting (2nd).

The 2025-26 season will be a transition for the C's, as management opted to revamp the team's roster in the offseason. Big-name, big-contract veterans Jrue Holiday, Al Horford, and Kristaps Porziņģis are gone, with Anfernee Simons (19.3 PPG last season) coming in via trade with Portland. Only two of the five starters from last season's 61-win squad will take the court, as Jayson Tatum is out for the season after tearing his Achilles tendon in the playoffs. Brown, White, and Pritchard are still suiting up in Celtics green, but the team isn't an NBA Finals favorite.

No new injuries for Sunday's game against the Clippers.

Clippers vs. Celtics Pick and Preview

Spread Pick for Clippers vs. Celtics

  • Boston covers (4 Units)

The Celtics got their swagger back in their last game, dropping 131 and holding the Grizzlies under 100 points. That's the type of dominant win we're accustomed to seeing from the guys in green and white. Even if they're not expected to be a top NBA Finals contender, this Boston team still has a championship pedigree. They'll sustain their momentum at home on Sunday. I won't be surprised if they go on a winning streak soon, too.

Los Angeles escaped lowly Dallas in double overtime on Friday, needing a herculean effort from Harden to snap a long losing streak. That isn't sustainable. With Leonard injured again and Beal out for the season, the Clippers are playing without two of their stars, and they're not a deep team, especially when you consider that several of their rotation pieces are older vets. LA doesn't shoot a high percentage from three, relying on close-range shots (4th in rim FG%) to get buckets, but that won't be as effective against Boston. The C's allow the second-fewest rim attempts and rank 4th in rim defense this season.

Bet on Boston to win comfortably.

Over/Under Pick for Clippers vs. Celtics

  • Under (5 Units)

This matchup projects to be slow-paced and lower-scoring. The Clippers (29th) and Celtics (30th) are the slowest-tempo NBA teams, as the visitors average the longest offensive possession length and the home team ranks 29th in defensive possession length. The Celtics are 27th in offensive possession length, too. With a couple of Los Angeles' top scoring threats sidelined, the low-scoring visitors will find it challenging to get in a rhythm against a top-ten Celtics defense. Even if Boston is efficient offensively, the game's slow pace will prevent them from pushing the total over the number.

Boston is 8-5 to the under, which has cashed in its previous three games. I recommend betting on that outcome in Sunday's game.
