The next day, the Clippers suffered a 120-105 defeat at the Cleveland Cavaliers. LA made just eight of its 26 shots from deep, and Harden went 0-for-8 from beyond the arc. Kawhi Leonard (ankle) returned from a 10-game absence last Sunday, tallying 20 points, three rebounds, and three steals across 26 minutes. His absence was a huge blow for the Clippers, who are 24th in the NBA in adjusted defensive efficiency (119.9 points allowed per 100 possessions). LeBron James made his season debut in that comfortable victory over the Jazz last Tuesday. James double-doubled with 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Luka Doncic led the way with 37 points and 10 dishes. Last Sunday, the Lakers barely outlasted Utah, and Doncic had 33 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists.
Deandre Ayton (15.5 PPG, 8.4 RPG) sustained a knee contusion in Salt Lake City and is questionable for Tuesday’s clash against the Clippers. All other players look ready to go. The Lakers tally 117.1 points per 100 possessions (15th in the league) and surrender 114.4 points in return (14th).
