Dallas Mavericks vs. New York Knicks Picks, Prediction, Odds, and Line Movement for Monday, January 19, 2026
Use Code WWWC East meets West in this Mavs vs. Knicks prediction on MLK Day from MSG at 5pmET. Dallas (17-26) is getting used to life without Anthony Davis (hand) and has just beaten Utah twice in a row. They are still two games behind 10th-place Memphis and the LA Clippers for the play-in spot in the Western Conference. The Knicks (25-17) have lost three straight and hope to get star guard Jalen Brunson (ankle) back for this one. New York won the first meeting on Nov. 19, 113-111 as an 8.5-point favorite. They are 10-point favorites in this matchup, and the total is 229.5. Check out more winning free NBA picks and the College Football Playoff Championship game at Winners and Whiners.
Mavs win without Davis and Flagg
In their second win over Utah at home on Saturday, Dallas crushed the Jazz 138-120, playing without rookie Cooper Flagg, who also missed their 144-122 win over the Jazz on Thursday. Stepping up in both games was Naji Marshall, who had a combined 38 points, and Brandon Williams, who had 40 points combined on 15-of-21 shooting. Veteran Klay Thompson also played well, producing 23 points off the bench in Saturday's win over the Jazz after scoring 26 points on Thursday. He's now shooting 12-of-24 from three-point range, which either helps the Mavs' get close to a playoff spot if he continues to play well or improve his trade value.
Flagg injured his ankle against Denver on Wednesday in a 118-109 loss as a 1.5-point favorite at home. The 6-foot-8 rookie from Duke (18.8 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 4.2 apg) isn't the only player on the injured list (he's questionable), along with Davis (20.4 ppg, 11.1 rpg), who is out for most of the regular season after surgery. C Daniel Gafford (ankle), G D'Angelo Russell (illness), and F P.J. Washington (personal) are also out.
According to DunksandThrees.com, Dallas ranks 23rd in Adjusted Net Rating, 28th in Adjusted Offense and 11th in Adjusted Defense.

Knicks struggling without Brunson
Just like the Dallas Mavericks, the Knicks have their own injury issues. But they are in pretty good shape in the Eastern Conference at third place, just a half-game ahead of Toronto. Guard Jalen Brunson was missed on Saturday when New York lost their third straight game and eighth of their last 10, when they fell at home to the surprising Suns, 106-99. Miles McBride and Karl-Anthony Towns scored 23 points apiece, but the Knicks shot just 40% from the field, while Phoenix made 15 of 42 three-pointers (36%) and New York converted just 32% of their three-pointers.
Brunson (28.2 ppg, 6.1 apg) played just five minutes in their 112-101 loss to Sacramento on Jan. 14 and missed the next two games. He's listed as questionable along with Josh Hart (12.1 ppg, 5.3 apg), who missed the last Jazz game due to an ankle injury. Fortunately for the Knicks, they do have Karl-Anthony Towns (20.9 ppg, 11.5 rpg), OG Anunoby (16 ppg, 5.5 rpg) and Mikal Bridges (16.1 ppg, 4.2 apg).
New York is ranked 8th in Adjusted Net Rating, 3rd in Adjusted Offense and 21st in Adjusted Defense according to DunksandThrees.com.
Picks and Predictions for Mavs vs. Knicks
Mavericks vs Knicks Odds and Pick
- Dallas +10 (5 units)
Never easy to pick a game when so many key players are questionable, but I assume Flagg is playing, considering he's missed just three games all season (Mavs are 2-1 without him). Even if Hart and Brunson play, New York is slumping with or without them. A big part of the problem is on the defensive end, where they rank 16th in field goal defense and 27th in three-point defense (37.3%). That means players like Klay Thompson will take advantage. Take the points as the Mavs at least are competing without Davis, covering and winning in three of four games. The Knicks have covered just two of their last 12 games.
- Under 229.5 (4 units)
Whether Brunson is back or not, the Knicks will score points, but they will do so methodically, as they are 28th in pace of play. Dallas is 22nd in pace of play and they've struggled shooting threes all season. They are even worse on the road, making just 30.9% from beyond the arc to rank 29th. They are 6-3 Under in their last nine games.
