Denver Nuggets at Portland Trail Blazers Picks and Prediction, Friday, October 31, 2025
Use Code WWWC The NBA Cup begins on Friday, and the Portland Trail Blazers are hosting the Denver Nuggets (3-1) in a Group Stage matchup. The Blazers and Nuggets are also in the same group as the Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, and Golden State Warriors.
Last season, Portland and Denver split their four regular-season meetings with the home team winning and covering each time.

Nuggets are a contender again
After opening the season with a loss at Golden State, the Nuggets have rolled off three consecutive wins and covers, defeating the Suns, Timberwolves, and Pelicans convincingly. Denver currently leads the NBA in offensive rating and ranks 18th on the defensive end.

Once again, the Nuggets look like a legitimate contender with their sights set on another NBA title this season, though there’s still a long road ahead, starting with their pursuit of the NBA Cup. Jamal Murray leads the team in scoring with 27 points per game, followed by Aaron Gordon at 21.3. Nikola Jokic is off to another MVP-caliber start, averaging 20.3 points, 14.5 rebounds, 11.2 assists, and 2.0 steals per game.
Murray (calf) is questionable for this game.
Blazers looking for the upset
The Portland Trail Blazers are currently led by interim head coach Tiago Splitter while the investigation into head coach Chauncey Billups’ gambling-related arrest is ongoing. Despite the off-court distraction, the team has performed well to start the season.
On the court, Portland is off to a 3–2 start. The Blazers opened the season with a loss to the Timberwolves, bounced back with a dominant 20-point win over the Warriors, then fell to the Clippers. They’ve since built momentum with a 122–108 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday night, followed by a tight 136–134 win against the Utah Jazz on Tuesday.
Through five games, Portland ranks 16th in the NBA in offensive rating and sixth in defensive rating. Deni Avdija leads the team in scoring with 22.6 points per game, followed by Jerami Grant with 21.6 and Jrue Holiday with 19.6 points and 7.8 assists per game. Donovan Clingan paces the team on the glass with nine rebounds per game while adding 10.4 points.
F Kris Murray (illness) is questionable. G Matiss Thybulle (thumb) is out. G Scoot Henderson (hamstring) is out for at least another week.
Nuggets vs Trail Blazers Prediction
Spread Pick for Nuggets vs. Trail Blazers Â
- Denver Nuggets -4.5 (4 units)
Jamal Murray may not play in this game, but I still believe the Nuggets are the play at this number. Each of Denver's wins has come by 13 points or more, and they have one of the deepest rosters in the NBA. Portland has improved but they have some depth issues due to injuries. I expect big games from Aaron Gordon and Nikola Jokic as the Nuggets cover the number.
Total Prediction for Nuggets vs. Trail Blazers
- Over 239.5Â (4 units)
Offense has been up across the NBA this season, and I expect that trend to continue, especially with NBA Cup point differentials in play, as teams are motivated to score until the final whistle. The over is 7-2 combined in games involving the Nuggets and Blazers this year, and these two teams have also gone over in six straight head-to-head matchups.
Denver has scored at least 122 points in every game this season and currently ranks No. 1 in offensive rating. However, the Nuggets’ defense hasn’t been stellar, and Portland has scored 122 or more in three of their last four contests.
The play is on the Over.
