The 2025-26 NBA betting action continues Friday, October 24, with the Golden State Warriors taking on the Portland Trail Blazers in the Western Conference showdown at Moda Center in Portland, Oregon, and we’ve got you covered with our Warriors vs. Trail Blazers prediction.
Golden State and Portland open their three-game regular-season series, and the Warriors look to extend their dominance over the Trail Blazers. Portland is winless in nine straight dates with Golden State, and the Warriors have covered the spread five times during that stretch.
Let’s take a closer look at this Warriors vs. Blazers prediction, one of our NBA picks for Friday’s slate. The Warriors open as slight 1.5-point road favorites with a total of 226.5 points, and the tip-off is set at 10:00 PM ET.
Thursday’s games have been excluded from the analysis. This preview was published before Thursday’s results, and the Warriors hosted the Denver Nuggets on Thursday night.

The Warriors opened the season with a W
The Golden State Warriors took the floor on opening night, beating the LeBron James-less Los Angeles Lakers 119-109 as 2.5-point road favorites. The Warriors led by as many as 17 points and fully deserved to win.
Luka Doncic dropped 43 points on Golden State, and the Lakers outscored the Warriors 62-36 in the paint. However, the Warriors went 17-for-40 from beyond the arc and 26-for-29 from the foul line while forcing 20 turnovers.
Jimmy Butler led the way for Golden State with 31 points. He went 16-for-16 from the free-throw line. Stephen Curry had 23 points, Jonathan Kuminga accounted for 17 points, nine rebounds, and six assists, and Buddy Hield added 17 points off the bench.
The Warriors had a quiet offseason. They lost Kevon Looney in free agency and signed Al Horford to replace him. Horford had five points and five rebounds in his Warriors debut.
The Trail Blazers will miss their head coach for some time
Thursday morning brought the shocking news that the FBI arrested the Portland Trail Blazers head coach, Chauncey Billups. The NBA champ with the 2004 Detroit Pistons and Hall of Famer was charged for his alleged role in an illegal poker operation.
Billups is being placed on immediate leave from his team. The arrest happened just a few hours after the Trail Blazers’ season opener. Tiago Splitter is expected to be named as the interim head coach. Last Wednesday, Portland suffered a 118-114 home defeat to the Minnesota Timberwolves, covering a 4.5-point spread.
The Trail Blazers blew an eight-point fourth-quarter lead, as Minnesota outscored Portland 30-19 in the final 12 minutes. The Timberwolves made 15 of their 30 shots from deep, whereas the Blazers went 13-for-42 from beyond the 3-point line. Portland shot just 40.0% from the field and was outrebounded 45-39 on the night.
Jerami Grant led the way for the Trail Blazers, notching 29 points off the bench. Deni Avdija had 20 points and seven rebounds, Shaedon Sharpe tallied 15 points and four assists, and Jrue Holiday posted a line of 14 points, seven assists, six boards, and three steals in his Blazers debut.
Warriors vs. Trail Blazers Pick
Spread Pick for Warriors vs. Trail Blazers
- Golden State Warriors -1.5 (5 units)
The Trail Blazers handed the interim job to Tiago Splitter, previously an assistant on the staff. Last season, Splitter was the head coach of Paris Basketball in the EuroLeague, and his team reached the playoffs, losing to Fenerbahce in the quarterfinals.
I don’t expect a lot of changes in Portland’s game on Friday night, though Splitter will certainly try to implement some of his ideas in future days. The Blazers fought bravely against the Timberwolves, but the lack of experience and a proper star scorer cost them a lot in crunch time.
I’m going with the Warriors, even though this is a tricky spot for Golden State. They will take the floor on the second night of a back-to-back, coming off a tough matchup against the Nuggets. Hopefully, the Warriors won’t rest their key players on Friday night. It’s the opening week of the season, so I expect to see Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler in the lineup.
Over/Under Pick for Warriors vs. Trail Blazers
- Over 226.5 (5 units)
The Warriors allowed just eight 3-pointers last Tuesday, but their interior defense was porous. The Trail Blazers will find a way to score enough to push this game over the total. Portland played pretty fast against Minnesota last Wednesday, and I expect more of the same when Golden State comes to town.
Golden State will continue to lean on 3-pointers. More than half of their shots from the field came from beyond the arc last Tuesday. The Trail Blazers allowed 15 triples to the Timberwolves, so give me the over on the total.
