The Warriors are struggling with injuries
The Golden State Warriors just finished their three-game road trip with a 1-2 SU and ATS record. They sandwiched a 111-85 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves with a pair of losses against the Dallas Mavericks 123-115 and the Timberwolves 108-83.

Last Monday, the Warriors were pretty shorthanded in Minneapolis. It was the second day of a back-to-back set for the Warriors, who missed seven players, including Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. Quinten Post led the way for Golden State with 13 points and five rebounds.
Both Curry (27.3 PPG, 5.0 APG) and Green (8.5 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 5.2 APG) should be ready to go Wednesday. Jimmy Butler (20.0 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 4.9 APG) is done for the season with a torn ACL, while Jonathan Kuminga (12.1 PPG, 5.9 RPG) is out with a bone bruise.
The Warriors are eighth in the Western Conference, six games ahead of the No. 11 seed and two and a half games behind the No. 6 seed. Golden State scores 115.5 points per 100 possessions (15th in the NBA) and allows 112.9 points in return (tied for 5th).
The Jazz desperately need more from their defense
The Utah Jazz were looking to avoid their third straight defeat on Tuesday night. They’ve struggled a lot lately, going 1-6 SU and 3-4 ATS in their previous seven outings. The Jazz have allowed at least 122 points in each of those seven contests.
Last Saturday, the Jazz suffered a heavy 147-116 home loss against the Miami Heat. Miami made just 43.5% of its field goals, but the Heat outrebounded the Jazz 64-34 while going 34-for-42 from the foul line. Utah allowed a whopping 26 offensive boards and hit just seven of its 25 shots from deep.
Brice Sensabaugh scored 23 points against Miami, while Jusuf Nurkic posted a triple-double of 17 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds. Lauri Markkanen (27.9 PPG, 7.2 RPG) missed his seventh straight game, but he was available for Tuesday’s game against the Clippers.
The Jazz were 13th in the West on Tuesday morning, six and a half games behind the No. 10 seed. Utah ranked 16th in the NBA in adjusted offensive efficiency (115.2 points per 100 possessions) and 30th in adjusted defensive efficiency (123.7).

Keep tracking the injury report, but we should see both Stephen Curry and Draymond Green in the Warriors’ starting lineup. Anyway, the Jazz might decide to rest someone on the second night of a back-to-back. Jusuf Nurkic (illness) was questionable for Tuesday’s clash versus LA, and Lauri Markkanen could get a day off after playing his first game in two weeks.
I’m going with the Warriors, who are arguably a much better defensive team than the Jazz. Utah’s defense has been horrendous all season. It is 29th in the NBA in 3-point percentage (37.8%) and 30th in 2-point percentage (58.8%).
Even the injury-depleted Warriors should be scoring at will against this Utah team. The last time they met, Golden State went 19-for-45 from downtown, and Stephen Curry led the way with 31 points. The Warriors are 11-2 SU and 9-4 ATS in their previous 13 encounters with the Jazz.
Over/Under Pick for Warriors vs. Jazz
- Over (4 units)
The Jazz play at the third-fastest pace in the NBA, while the Warriors rank 14th in this category. Add Utah’s terrible defense into the equation, and the over looks like a way to go when it comes to the total in this game.
The Warriors lead the league in 3-point rate (.499) and rank 12th in 3-point percentage (36.3%). No team allows more 3-pointers per 100 possessions than Utah (15.3), and the Jazz are 26th in the league in defensive turnover percentage (11.4%). The over has hit in eight of Utah’s last 12 games overall.
